Maintenance
Daily Cleaning
- Always unplug the coffee maker before cleaning.
- Wash the carafe, filter basket, and reusable filter in warm, soapy water after each use. These parts are generally top-rack dishwasher safe, but hand washing is recommended for longevity.
- Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker, including the heating plate, with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
- Never immerse the main unit in water or any other liquid.
Descaling (Mineral Deposit Removal)
Mineral deposits (calcium) can build up in your coffee maker over time, affecting its performance and the taste of your coffee. Descale your coffee maker every 2-3 months, or more frequently if you have hard water.
- Prepare a descaling solution: Mix white vinegar and cold water in a 1:2 ratio (e.g., 1 cup vinegar to 2 cups water). Fill the water reservoir with this solution up to the MAX fill line.
- Place the empty carafe on the heating plate. Ensure the filter basket is empty (no coffee grounds or filter).
- Start a brewing cycle as if making coffee. Allow half of the solution to brew through.
- Turn off the coffee maker and let it stand for at least 15 minutes to allow the solution to work.
- Turn the coffee maker back on and allow the remaining solution to brew through.
- Discard the solution from the carafe.
- Rinse the coffee maker by brewing two full carafes of fresh, cold water. Discard the water after each cycle.
