2. Product Features

The MELLCOM 12x16ft Louvered Pergola is designed for outdoor use, offering adjustable shade and weather protection. Key features include:

  • Adjustable Louvered Roof: Control sunlight and rain with a crank-operated louvered roof, adjustable from 0° to 135°. The roof vanes are split 50/50 for independent control over each half.
  • Integrated Drainage System: Rainwater is channeled through the louvers into guttering and drains through the legs to the ground, preventing drips.
  • Pull-Down Screens: Six slightly transparent screen panels provide privacy, UV protection, and resistance against wind and light rain. Screens can be lowered to any desired height and retract smoothly into their casings.
  • Durable Construction: Constructed with a robust, powder-coated aluminum frame for rust-free, weatherproof, and UV-protected performance.
  • Wind Resistance: Designed to withstand winds of 60-90 MPH.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Adjusting the Louvered Roof

Use the provided crank handles to adjust the angle of the louvers. Rotate the handle to open the louvers for sunlight or close them for shade and rain protection. The louvers can be adjusted from 0° (fully open) to 135° (fully closed and waterproof). Each half of the pergola's roof can be adjusted independently.

5.2 Using the Pull-Down Screens

To lower a screen, gently pull it down to the desired height. The integrated spring-loaded runners will hold it in place. To retract, manually lift the screen upward until it fully retracts into its casing. The screens offer light transparency for ambient light while providing privacy and UV protection.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your pergola.

  • Cleaning: Clean the aluminum frame and louvers with mild soap and water. Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals that could damage the finish.
  • Drainage System: Periodically inspect and clear the drainage channels of leaves, debris, or any blockages to ensure proper water flow and prevent overflow.
  • Screens: Clean screens with a soft brush or cloth and mild soapy water. Allow to air dry completely before retracting.
  • Fasteners: Periodically check all bolts and screws to ensure they remain tight. Re-tighten as necessary.
  • Wind Protection: In strong winds, it is recommended to open the louvers and raise the side screens to minimize wind resistance and prevent damage to the structure.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your pergola, refer to the following common solutions:

  • Louvers not adjusting smoothly: Check for any obstructions in the louver mechanism or debris accumulated on the louvers. Ensure the crank handle is properly engaged.
  • Screens not retracting/extending: Inspect the screen channels for debris. Ensure the screen fabric is not snagged or misaligned.
  • Water leakage: Verify that the louvers are fully closed and that the drainage system is clear of blockages. Check for any loose seals or damaged components.
  • Pergola instability: Ensure the pergola is properly anchored to a solid, flat surface and all frame connections are securely tightened.
