Setup

  1. Charge the Strobe Light: Connect the provided USB cable to the strobe light and a suitable USB power source (e.g., computer USB port, wall adapter). Allow the light to charge fully before first use.
  2. Prepare Turntable: Ensure your turntable is powered on and operating at the desired speed (33-1/3, 45, or 78 RPM).

Operating Instructions

Follow these steps to calibrate your turntable's speed:

  1. Place the Tachometer Disc: Carefully place the tachometer disc directly onto your turntable's platter. Ensure it is centered and lies flat.
  2. Activate Strobe Light: Turn on the strobe light.
  3. Observe the Pattern: Hold the activated strobe light over the spinning tachometer disc. Observe the patterns corresponding to the RPM speed you are testing (33-1/3, 45, or 78 RPM).
  4. Adjust Turntable Speed: If your turntable has a speed adjustment control, slowly adjust it while observing the patterns on the disc.
  5. Achieve Static Pattern: Continue adjusting until the specific pattern for the selected RPM appears to be static, or not moving. This indicates that your turntable is operating at the correct speed.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to gently wipe the strobe light and tachometer disc. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Storage: Store the device in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures when not in use.
  • Battery Care: For optimal battery life, avoid fully discharging the strobe light frequently. Recharge as needed.

Troubleshooting

  • Pattern is stable and does not move: This indicates the turntable speed is correct.
  • Patterns on the disc move slowly clockwise: This indicates the turntable is running too fast. Adjust your turntable's speed control to decrease the RPM.
  • Patterns on the disc move slowly counter-clockwise: This indicates the turntable is running too slow. Adjust your turntable's speed control to increase the RPM.
  • Strobe light does not turn on: Ensure the strobe light is fully charged using the provided USB cable.
