2.2 Powering On
Locate the power button (typically marked with a power symbol ⏻) on the device. Press and hold the button until the display illuminates.
2.3 Initial Calibration
Calibration is crucial for accurate measurements. The procedure varies slightly depending on whether your device model includes physical keys for navigation.
2.3.1 Calibration for Models with Keys
- Press the ▲ Up and ▼ Down keys to adjust the displayed measurement to the nominal value of your standard hardness block.
- Press the Menu key to complete the calibration process.

For models without physical navigation keys, the calibration process is automated:
- Perform five consecutive measurements on an empty (unmeasured) surface. The measured value will decrease by 1 each time.
- Next, perform measurements on a workpiece or a standard hardness block. The measured value will increase by 1 each time.
- Once the displayed value matches the nominal value, no further operation is required. The device will automatically calibrate after 5 seconds.
The calibration range is approximately ±15 HL.

3. Operating Instructions
3.1 Preparing the Sample
Ensure the surface of the material to be tested is clean, smooth, and free from oil, rust, or other contaminants. The sample should be stable and thick enough to prevent deformation during testing.
3.2 Performing a Measurement
- Hold the hardness tester firmly and perpendicular to the test surface.
- Press the impact device against the surface. The internal spring mechanism will release, causing an impact.
- The hardness value will be displayed on the screen.
- Repeat measurements at several different points on the sample to ensure accuracy and consistency. Avoid re-testing the exact same spot.

- Press the Menu button to enter the menu.

- Press the Menu button again to enter the calibration status. Follow on-screen prompts to complete.
5.1.2 Calibration (Models Without Keys)
Perform five consecutive measurements on an empty surface to enter the calibration status. Then proceed with measurements on a standard hardness block as described in Section 2.3.2.
