5. Maintenance
5.1. Rain Collector
The Geevon rain collector is designed to be self-emptying, minimizing the need for daily maintenance. However, periodic checks are recommended to ensure no debris (leaves, twigs, etc.) has accumulated in the funnel, which could obstruct accurate measurement. Clean gently with a soft cloth if necessary.
5.2. Battery Replacement
When the battery indicator appears on the display, replace the batteries in the respective unit (indoor display, outdoor sensor, or rain collector) following the instructions in Section 3.1. Use fresh batteries of the specified type to ensure continuous and accurate operation.
5.3. Cleaning
Wipe the indoor display unit and outdoor sensor with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these may damage the plastic components or the display.
6. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No display on indoor unit / Outdoor sensor not connecting | Low or dead batteries; Incorrect battery installation; Out of range; Interference. | Replace all batteries with fresh ones, ensuring correct polarity. Ensure indoor unit and outdoor sensor are within specified transmission range (150-200 feet). Reduce potential interference from other electronic devices. Re-pair units by placing them close together for a few minutes. |
| Inaccurate rainfall readings (e.g., 0 mm despite rain) | Rain collector obstructed; Sensor malfunction; Incorrect installation. | Check the rain collector for debris (leaves, dirt) and clear any obstructions. Ensure the rain collector is installed on a level surface in an open area. Verify batteries in the rain collector are fresh and correctly installed. |
| Display difficult to read at night | Backlight not activated. | Press the 'Light' or 'SNOOZE/LIGHT' button to activate the backlight. |
| Temperature/Humidity readings seem incorrect | Sensor placement; Environmental factors. | Ensure the outdoor sensor is not in direct sunlight or near heat sources. Allow time for readings to stabilize after initial setup or relocation. |
