BeAndge STEM Kits (Model BA1011) Instruction Manual

Your Guide to Building and Learning

1. Introduction

The BeAndge STEM Kits (Model BA1011) offer an engaging and educational experience for children aged 6 and up. This kit includes components for building five distinct science projects: a Solar-Powered Car, a Wind-Powered Car, an Obstacle-Avoidance Robot, a Transmission Tank, and a Wind-Powered Glider. Designed to foster innovative thinking, enhance hand-eye coordination, and stimulate curiosity in physics and engineering, these kits provide a hands-on approach to learning about basic mechanical and electrical principles.

5. Operating Instructions

Once your project is assembled, follow these general operating guidelines:

  • Battery Installation: Ensure AA batteries (not included) are correctly installed in the battery box, observing polarity.
  • Power On/Off: Locate the power switch on your assembled project and toggle it to the 'ON' position to activate.

Specific Project Operation:

  • Solar-Powered Car: Place the car in direct sunlight. The solar panel will convert light energy into electrical energy to power the motor and move the car.
  • Wind-Powered Car/Glider: Ensure the propeller is securely attached. When powered, the propeller will generate thrust to move the vehicle forward.
  • Obstacle-Avoidance Robot: The robot is designed with sensors to detect obstacles. When an obstacle is encountered, the robot will change direction to avoid collision.
  • Transmission Tank: The tank utilizes a track system for movement. Activate the power to observe the transmission mechanism in action.

6. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and proper function of your BeAndge STEM Kits, follow these maintenance tips:

  • Cleaning: Wipe down components with a dry, soft cloth. Avoid using water or harsh chemicals, as these can damage electrical parts.
  • Storage: Store all parts and assembled projects in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Battery Replacement: Replace AA batteries when performance diminishes. Always dispose of used batteries responsibly.
  • Component Check: Periodically inspect screws and connections to ensure they are secure. Tighten any loose parts with the provided screwdriver.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your BeAndge STEM Kit projects, consider the following:

  • Project Not Moving/Working:
    • Check battery installation: Ensure batteries are inserted correctly with the correct polarity and are not depleted.
    • Verify wire connections: Make sure all wires are securely connected to the motor and battery box.
    • Inspect gears/moving parts: Ensure no parts are jammed or obstructed.
    • For Solar Car: Confirm it is in direct, bright sunlight. It may not move in low light conditions.
  • Parts Not Fitting: Refer to the specific project's instruction manual to ensure you are using the correct parts for each step. Some screws are very small and require careful handling.
  • Obstacle-Avoidance Robot Not Avoiding: Check that the sensor is clear of obstructions and properly connected.
