Installation Guide

This section provides step-by-step instructions for installing your VEIKOU Retractable Awning. It is recommended that two people perform the installation.

1. Prepare the Awning Frame

1. Assemble the Roller Tube: Connect the two sections of the roller tube (A-1 and A-2) using the provided screws (S). Ensure a secure connection.
2. Assemble the Front Bar: Connect the two sections of the front bar (C-1 and C-2) using the provided screws (S).
3. Attach the Arms: Connect the two sections of the awning arms (B-1 and B-2) using the provided screws (S).

2. Install the Fabric

1. Insert Fabric into Roller Tube: Slide the fabric (E) into the groove of the assembled roller tube (A).
2. Insert Fabric into Front Bar: Slide the fabric (F) into the groove of the assembled front bar (C).
3. Secure Fabric Ends: Use the small plastic clips (P) and screws to secure the fabric ends to the roller tube and front bar, preventing slippage.

3. Mount the Brackets

The recommended installation height is more than 8.2 feet (98.4 inches) from the ground to the top of the awning. The awning is designed for vertical solid hard siding walls.

1. Mark Positions: Determine the desired mounting location. Mark the positions for the three mounting brackets (M) on your wall. Ensure they are level and spaced appropriately to support the awning's width.
2. Drill Holes: Drill pilot holes at the marked positions.
3. Install Brackets: Securely fasten the mounting brackets (M) to the wall using the appropriate hardware (N) for your wall type. (Note: Lag screws for wood/siding are not included; masonry bolts are provided).

4. Attach the Awning to Brackets

1. Lift Awning: With assistance, carefully lift the assembled awning and align the main frame with the installed mounting brackets.
2. Secure Awning: Insert the awning frame into the brackets (J). Secure it by tightening the bolts (L) on the brackets.
3. Install End Caps: Place the decorative end caps (K-1, K-2) onto the ends of the awning frame.

5. Install the Crank Handle

1. Attach Crank Holder: Mount the crank handle holder (H) to the wall at a convenient height, typically below the left side of the awning.
2. Insert Crank Handle: Insert the crank handle into the designated opening on the left side of the awning mechanism.

Operating Instructions

Extending and Retracting the Awning

The awning is operated manually using the crank handle.

• To Extend: Turn the crank handle clockwise to extend the awning to your desired length.
• To Retract: Turn the crank handle counter-clockwise to retract the awning completely.

Adjusting the Pitch (Angle)

The awning's pitch can be adjusted between 45° and 85° to customize shading coverage.

• Locate the adjustment bolts on the awning arms.
• Loosen the bolts slightly, adjust the angle of the arms to achieve the desired pitch, then securely tighten the bolts.

Maintenance

Proper maintenance will extend the life and appearance of your awning.

• Cleaning the Fabric: Clean the polyester fabric with mild soap and water. Use a soft brush or sponge. Rinse thoroughly with clean water and allow to air dry completely before retracting. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
• Cleaning the Frame: Wipe the aluminum frame with a damp cloth to remove dirt and debris.
• Hardware Inspection: Periodically check all bolts, screws, and connections to ensure they remain tight. Tighten as necessary.
• Winter Storage: In areas with harsh winters, it is recommended to retract the awning and cover it, or remove it for storage, to protect it from heavy snow and ice accumulation.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your awning, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

• Awning does not extend/retract smoothly: Check for any obstructions in the arms or roller tube. Ensure the crank mechanism is clean and free of debris. Lubricate moving parts if necessary.
• Awning sags or is uneven: Verify that all mounting brackets are securely fastened and level. Check the tension in the arms and adjust if needed (refer to installation video for guidance on tension adjustment).
• Fabric appears loose: Ensure the fabric is properly inserted and secured in the roller tube and front bar grooves. Check the plastic clips (P) for proper placement.
