4. Installation Guide
Before beginning installation, ensure your grill is completely cool and disconnected from its gas supply. It is recommended to replace one component at a time to avoid confusion.
4.1. Safety Precautions
- Always ensure the gas supply is turned off and disconnected.
- Allow the grill to cool completely before handling any parts.
- Wear protective gloves to prevent cuts from sharp edges.
- Work in a well-ventilated area.
4.2. Tools Required
- Screwdriver (Phillips or flathead, depending on your grill's fasteners)
- Pliers (optional, for stubborn connections)
- Wire brush or scraper (for cleaning)
4.3. Step-by-Step Installation
- Remove Grill Grates and Warming Rack: Carefully lift out the cooking grates and any warming racks to access the internal components.
- Remove Old Heat Plates: Lift out the old heat plates (also known as flame tamers or heat shields). Note their orientation.
- Remove Old Burner Tubes:
- Locate the fasteners holding the burner tubes in place, usually at the back or front of the firebox.
- Disconnect any igniter wires attached to the burner tubes.
- Carefully slide out the old burner tubes from the gas valve orifices.
- Remove Old Crossover Tubes: Disconnect and remove the old crossover tubes that link the burners.
- Remove Old Igniters (if replacing):
- Trace the igniter wires back to the ignition module.
- Disconnect the wires and remove the old igniter electrodes from their mounting brackets.
- Clean the Grill Interior: Use a wire brush or scraper to remove any debris, grease, or rust from the firebox.
- Install New Igniters:
- Mount the new igniter electrodes into their respective brackets.
- Connect the igniter wires to the ignition module, ensuring a secure fit.
- Install New Burner Tubes:
- Carefully insert the new burner tubes into the gas valve orifices. Ensure they are fully seated.
- Secure the burner tubes with the appropriate fasteners.
- Clip the igniter electrodes to the burner tubes (refer to Figure 6 for proper attachment).

- Leak Test: Reconnect the gas supply. Before lighting, perform a leak test by applying a soapy water solution to all gas connections. Bubbles indicate a leak. Tighten connections as needed.
5. Operation
After successful installation, your grill should operate with improved efficiency and heat distribution. Always follow your grill manufacturer's instructions for safe lighting and operation.
- First Use: Before cooking, preheat the grill on high for 10-15 minutes to burn off any manufacturing residues.
- Even Heat: The new heat plates and burner tubes are designed to provide consistent heat across the cooking surface, leading to better cooking results.
