4. Setup
4.1 Unpacking
- Carefully remove all packaging materials from the espresso machine.
- Check that all components are present and undamaged. Refer to the "Product Components" section.
- Place the machine on a stable, flat, heat-resistant surface, away from water sources.
4.2 Initial Cleaning
- Before first use, wash the water tank, portafilter, filter basket, and drip tray with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
- Wipe the exterior of the machine with a damp cloth.
4.3 Filling the Water Tank
- Remove the transparent water tank from the back of the machine.
- Fill the tank with fresh, cold water up to the "MAX" line (1.2 liters capacity). Do not exceed the MAX line.
- Place the water tank back into its position, ensuring it is seated correctly.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Brewing Espresso
- Ensure the water tank is filled and the machine is plugged into a 127V power outlet.
- Press the power button to turn on the machine. The indicator lights will illuminate, indicating the machine is preheating. Wait until the lights indicate it's ready for brewing (refer to your machine's specific indicator light behavior).
- Add desired amount of finely ground coffee to the filter basket (one or two cups). Tamp the coffee evenly and firmly.
- Insert the portafilter into the group head and twist it to the right until it is securely locked in place.
- Place one or two espresso cups on the drip tray beneath the portafilter spouts.
- Turn the control dial to the coffee brewing position. Hot water will begin to flow through the coffee.
- Once the desired amount of espresso is brewed, turn the control dial back to the standby position to stop the flow.
- Carefully remove the portafilter, discard the used coffee grounds, and rinse the filter basket.
5.2 Preparing Cappuccino and Latte (Milk Frothing)
- After brewing espresso, or when the machine is preheated, turn the control dial to the steam function. The steam indicator light will illuminate.
- Fill a stainless steel frothing pitcher with cold milk (dairy or non-dairy) to about one-third full.
- Position the steam wand just below the surface of the milk.
- Slowly open the steam knob to release steam. Move the pitcher up and down to create foam.
- Once the milk has reached the desired temperature and consistency, close the steam knob and remove the pitcher.
- Wipe the steam wand immediately with a damp cloth to prevent milk residue from drying.
- Add the frothed milk to your espresso to create a cappuccino or latte.
6. Cleaning and Maintenance
Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your espresso machine.
6.1 Daily Cleaning
- Drip Tray: Empty and clean the detachable drip tray after each use. Wash with warm, soapy water and rinse thoroughly.
- Portafilter and Filter Basket: Remove and rinse the portafilter and filter basket under running water after each use. Remove any coffee residue.
- Steam Wand: Immediately after frothing milk, wipe the steam wand with a damp cloth. Purge a small amount of steam to clear any internal milk residue.
- Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the machine with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
6.2 Descaling
Depending on water hardness and frequency of use, descaling should be performed every 2-3 months to remove mineral buildup.
- Prepare a descaling solution according to the descaler manufacturer's instructions (or use a mixture of white vinegar and water).
- Fill the water tank with the descaling solution.
- Place a large container under the portafilter and steam wand.
- Run half of the solution through the coffee brewing cycle without coffee.
- Run the remaining half of the solution through the steam wand.
- After descaling, rinse the water tank and fill it with fresh water. Run several cycles of fresh water through both the brewing head and steam wand to thoroughly rinse the machine.
