4. Setup

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove the power supply and all accessories from the packaging. Inspect for any signs of damage.
  2. Placement: Place the power supply on a stable, level surface with adequate ventilation. Ensure no objects block the air vents on the sides or rear of the unit.
  3. Power Connection: Connect the provided power cable to the AC input socket on the rear of the power supply and then to a grounded 110V AC power outlet.
  4. Initial Power On: Press the main POWER button on the front panel. The digital displays should illuminate.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Setting Voltage and Current Limits (Pre-setting)

It is recommended to set the desired voltage and current limits before connecting your load.

  1. Ensure the output is OFF (the ON/OFF button LED is off).
  2. Adjust the V-COARSE and V-FINE knobs to set the desired output voltage. The voltage display will show the set value.
  3. Adjust the A-COARSE and A-FINE knobs to set the desired maximum output current (current limit). The current display will show the set value.
  4. Once the desired voltage and current limits are set, connect your load to the output terminals (+, -, GND) using appropriate test leads.
  5. Press the ON/OFF button to enable the output. The output will now supply power according to your settings.

5.2 Constant Voltage (C.V) and Constant Current (C.C) Modes

  • Constant Voltage (C.V) Mode: When the load resistance is high, the power supply maintains the set output voltage. The C.V indicator will be lit. The output current will be determined by the load and will be less than the set current limit.
  • Constant Current (C.C) Mode: When the load resistance is low, the power supply maintains the set output current. The C.C indicator will be lit. The output voltage will drop to prevent the current from exceeding the set limit. This mode is crucial for protecting current-sensitive devices.

5.3 Using the USB Output (5V/2A)

The front panel features a dedicated 5V/2A USB output port. This port provides a fixed 5V output at up to 2A, independent of the main adjustable DC output. It can be used to charge or power compatible USB devices.

5.4 Protection Functions

The power supply incorporates several protection features:

  • Over Temperature Protection (OTP): If the internal temperature exceeds a safe limit, the unit will shut down or reduce output to prevent damage.
  • Overload Protection (OLP): If the load draws excessive power, the unit will limit output or shut down.
  • Short Circuit Protection (SCP): In case of a short circuit at the output terminals, the power supply will stop output and may sound an alarm to prevent damage to the unit and the connected load.

6. Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and reliable operation of your power supply:

  • Cleaning: Disconnect the power supply from the AC outlet before cleaning. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Ventilation: Regularly check that the ventilation openings are clear of dust and debris. The internal cooling fan activates when the internal temperature exceeds 50°C (122°F) to maintain optimal operating conditions.
  • Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store the power supply in a cool, dry environment, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your power supply, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
No power/displays offPower cable disconnected, main power switch off, faulty outlet.Check power cable connection, ensure main POWER button is pressed, test outlet with another device.
No output voltage/currentOutput ON/OFF button is off, current limit set too low, protection activated.Press the ON/OFF button to enable output, increase current limit, check for short circuits or overloads.
C.C indicator always onLoad resistance is too low, or current limit is reached. This is normal operation. If unintended, increase the current limit or check your load.
Unit overheats/shuts downBlocked ventilation, excessive load, high ambient temperature.Ensure vents are clear, reduce load, operate in a cooler environment. Allow unit to cool before restarting.

If the problem persists after attempting these solutions, please contact customer support.
