4. Setup Guide

4.1 Initial Preparation

1. Charge the Dash Cam: Before first use, charge the dash camera for at least 1 hour using the provided car charger to prevent compatibility or power issues.
2. Insert Micro SD Card: Insert a reputable Class 10 or higher speed 32-512GB Micro SD card into the dash cam. A 32GB Micro SD card is included in the package.
3. Format SD Card: It is crucial to format the Micro SD card regularly to prevent locked videos from taking up too much capacity and affecting normal operation. This can be done via the "JarvisCam" app or directly on the device.

4.2 Installation

1. Mount the Front Dash Cam: Use the provided suction mount to securely attach the main dash cam unit to your windshield, ensuring it does not obstruct your view.
2. Install Rear Camera: Mount the rear camera on your rear window. Route the rear camera cable neatly along the vehicle's interior.
3. Connect Power: Connect the car charger to the dash cam and plug it into your vehicle's cigarette lighter socket. For 24-hour parking monitoring, an optional Type-C hardwire kit (not included) is required for continuous power.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Power On/Off

The dash cam will automatically power on and begin recording when your vehicle's engine starts and power is supplied. It will power off automatically when the engine is turned off.

5.2 Basic Recording

• Continuous Recording: The dash cam records continuously in short segments (e.g., 1, 3, or 5 minutes) and saves them to the SD card.
• Loop Recording: When the SD card is full, the oldest unlocked footage will be automatically overwritten to ensure continuous recording.

5.3 G-Sensor (Emergency Recording)

The built-in G-sensor detects sudden shakes or collisions. In such an event, the dash cam will automatically lock the current video footage, saving it to a separate "emergency file" folder to prevent it from being overwritten by loop recording.

5.4 Parking Monitoring

To enable 24-hour parking monitoring, a Type-C hardwire kit (not included) is required. Once installed, the dash cam can record continuously with a time-lapse function while the vehicle is parked, providing surveillance against bumps or vandalism.

5.5 GPS Tracking

The integrated GPS module records your driving route, real-time speed, and location. This data can be viewed on Google Maps through the "JarvisCam" app or via our Windows and Mac GPSPlayer software, providing valuable additional evidence.

A1: The parking monitor function requires connection with a wired kit (not included in the package). If you need a wired kit for the 24-hour parking monitor function, please contact GKU customer support. The dash cam does not support pre-charging to store energy; it only receives power when the car is started and shuts down immediately when the car is turned off. The included car charger is easier to install, but for 24-hour monitoring, a hardwire kit is necessary.

Q2: Dash cam APP (JarvisCam APP) can't connect to WiFi? Can't see live on the APP?

A2: If you are unable to connect to the dash cam's WiFi or watch the live broadcast, please turn off VPN, Bluetooth, cellular data, security software, and antivirus apps on your mobile phone. Also, whitelist the app for photo albums, location, Wi-Fi, and cellular data permissions.

Q3: If the dash cam for cars light stays on after the car is turned off, will it drain the car battery?

A3: The dash cam may remain on briefly after the car is turned off to save the last folder before shutdown, or it could be related to the car's fuel system. Observe the car battery charge within 12 hours after turning off the car to prevent battery discharge. If there is a risk of discharging the car battery, a corresponding wire kit can be provided by GKU to solve this problem.
