2. Product Overview

3. Setup and Installation

3.2 Installation Steps Overview:
- Mounting the Control Unit and Siren: Select an easily accessible yet concealed location for the main control unit and siren. Ensure they are protected from water and extreme temperatures.
- Wiring Connection: Follow the provided wiring diagrams carefully. The wiring is color-coded for easier identification. Refer to the detailed wiring diagrams in sections 3.3 and 3.4.
- Testing: After all connections are made, test the system's functions (arming, disarming, shock sensor, engine start/stop) before fully reassembling the vehicle.

4. Operating Instructions
The STEELMATE 986E system is operated primarily using the provided remote controls.

4.1 Arming and Disarming:
- Arming: Press the Lock button on the remote control. The system will arm, and the siren will chirp once. The turn signals may flash.
- Disarming: Press the Unlock button on the remote control. The system will disarm, and the siren will chirp twice. The turn signals may flash.
4.2 Keyless Driving Function:
This feature allows you to start your vehicle without using the physical key, provided the system is disarmed. Consult your installer for specific activation and usage details.
4.3 High-Jack Prevention (Engine Stop):
In an emergency situation, this function can remotely stop the engine of your vehicle. This feature is intended for security purposes only and should be used responsibly.
4.4 Shock Sensor Sensitivity Adjustment:
The built-in shock sensor has 5 levels of sensitivity. Refer to your remote control's specific button combination or sequence to adjust the sensitivity. Higher sensitivity detects lighter impacts, while lower sensitivity reduces false alarms.
4.5 Immobilizer Function:
When armed, the immobilizer prevents the engine from starting unless the system is disarmed with the dedicated remote control. This provides an additional layer of anti-theft protection.
4.6 Parking Position Checking Function:
To locate your vehicle in a crowded parking area, activate the parking position checking function via the remote control. The system will emit a sound, helping you pinpoint your vehicle's location within a range of approximately 10-20 meters.

5. Maintenance
5.1 Remote Control Battery Replacement:
When the remote control's range decreases or it stops responding, it may be time to replace the battery. The process is simple:
- Carefully open the remote control casing, typically by prying it open with a small flat-head screwdriver.
- Remove the old button cell battery.
- Insert a new battery of the same type, ensuring correct polarity.
- Close the remote control casing securely.

- Keep the main control unit and siren free from excessive moisture and dirt.
