1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the proper use and maintenance of your Meike MK-PLTE-C Drop-in Filter Mount Adapter. This adapter is designed to allow the use of ARRI PL-mount cine lenses on Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras, incorporating a convenient drop-in filter system.

The adapter includes a variable neutral density (VND) filter and a UV filter, enhancing your photographic and videographic capabilities by offering precise light control and lens protection.

3. Setup and Installation

3.1 Attaching the Adapter to the Camera

1. Ensure your Sony E-mount camera is powered off.
2. Remove the rear lens cap from the adapter and the body cap from your camera.
3. Align the red dot on the adapter with the white dot on your camera's lens mount.
4. Insert the adapter into the camera mount and rotate it clockwise until it clicks securely into place.

3.2 Attaching a PL-Mount Cine Lens

1. Remove the front cap from the adapter.
2. Align the PL-mount lens with the adapter's PL bayonet. The unique horn-shaped design facilitates alignment.
3. Insert the lens and rotate it until it locks into position. The metal bayonet ensures a secure fit.
4. For lenses with a maximum PL flange depth greater than 21mm, ensure compatibility before attachment to prevent damage.

3.3 Inserting Drop-in Filters

1. Locate the filter slot on the side of the adapter.
2. Gently slide the desired filter (VND or UV) into the slot until it clicks into place.
3. The adapter comes with a clear filter holder for situations where no filtration is needed, or if the lens has a protruding rear element.

Note: If using a PL lens with a protruding rear element, it is recommended to use the clear filter holder or an empty filter frame to prevent the lens from contacting the filter glass. The filter slot should always be occupied to prevent light leaks.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Using the Variable ND Filter

The included Variable ND filter (ND3-ND500) allows for light reduction from 1.5 to 9 stops. This is useful for maintaining wide apertures in bright conditions or achieving slower shutter speeds for motion blur effects.

1. Ensure the VND filter is correctly inserted into the adapter's filter slot.
2. Rotate the small wheel on the side of the VND filter to adjust the density. Rotate clockwise to increase ND (darker), and counter-clockwise to decrease ND (lighter).
3. Observe the live view or viewfinder to achieve the desired exposure and effect.

4.2 Manual Focus Operation

Since PL-mount cine lenses are manual focus, all focusing adjustments will be made directly on the lens. Utilize your camera's focus peaking and magnification features for precise focusing.

4.3 Camera Settings

When using this adapter, your camera will not receive electronic information from the lens. Therefore, you must enable "Release without lens" or "Shoot without lens" in your camera's menu settings. All exposure settings (aperture, shutter speed, ISO) must be adjusted manually on the camera and lens.

5. Maintenance and Care

• Cleaning: Use a soft, lint-free cloth to clean the adapter body. For optical surfaces (filters), use a lens cleaning solution and a microfiber cloth. Avoid touching the glass surfaces directly.
• Storage: When not in use, store the adapter with both front and rear caps attached in a dry, dust-free environment. Keep filters in their protective storage box.
• Handling: Avoid dropping or subjecting the adapter to strong impacts, as this may affect its precision and functionality.
• Moisture: Protect the adapter from moisture and extreme temperatures.
