1. Introduction

This instruction manual provides essential information for the proper setup, operation, and maintenance of your new Generic Infrared (IR) Replacement Remote Control. Please read this manual thoroughly before use to ensure optimal performance and to avoid any potential issues. This remote is designed as a replacement for specific Makena and Mastertech television models.

2. Product Overview

The Generic Infrared Remote Control is a standard button-controlled device designed to operate compatible televisions. It features 20 buttons for various functions, including power, channel selection, volume control, menu navigation, and source input.

3. Setup

Battery Installation

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the back of the remote control.
  2. Slide the battery compartment cover downwards or press the latch and lift to remove it.
  3. Insert two (2) AAA alkaline batteries, ensuring the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals align correctly with the markings inside the compartment.
  4. Replace the battery compartment cover by sliding it back into place until it clicks securely.

Note: Ensure batteries are inserted correctly. Incorrect insertion may prevent the remote from functioning.

4. Operating Instructions

This remote control operates using infrared (IR) technology. For proper function, ensure there is a clear line of sight between the remote control and the IR receiver on your television.

  • Power On/Off: Press the POWER button to turn your television on or off.
  • Channel Selection: Use the CH+ / CH- buttons to change channels sequentially, or use the number pad to enter specific channel numbers.
  • Volume Control: Adjust the volume using the VOL+ / VOL- buttons.
  • Source/Input: Press the SOURCE button to cycle through available input sources (e.g., HDMI 1, AV, TV).
  • Menu Navigation: Use the MENU button to access the TV's on-screen menu. Use the directional arrows (UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT) and OK button to navigate and select options.

Important Note: As a replacement remote, some advanced or specific functions of your original TV remote may not be fully supported or may operate differently. This remote is designed to cover primary television functions.

5. Maintenance

  • Battery Replacement: Replace batteries when the remote's performance degrades or it stops responding. Always replace both batteries at the same time with new AAA alkaline batteries.
  • Cleaning: To clean the remote, gently wipe it with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners, abrasive materials, or solvents, as these can damage the remote's surface or internal components.
  • Storage: Store the remote in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. If the remote will not be used for an extended period, it is advisable to remove the batteries to prevent leakage.

6. Troubleshooting

  • Remote is not responding:
    • Check if the batteries are inserted correctly with the correct polarity (+/-).
    • Replace old batteries with new AAA alkaline batteries.
    • Ensure there is a clear line of sight between the remote's IR emitter and the TV's IR receiver. Remove any obstructions.
    • Make sure you are within the effective operating range of the remote (typically up to 20 feet).
  • Some functions are not working:
    • Verify that your television model is listed as compatible (Makena 40S2, Mastertech E32D0A35, MT32SLIHTC1).
    • As a replacement remote, some specific or advanced functions of your original TV remote may not be replicated.
  • Remote is not compatible with my TV:
