Setup and Installation

Follow these steps for proper setup and installation of your carbon monoxide detector:

  1. Battery Installation:

Before installing the detector, you need to insert the batteries. The detector requires 3 x AA 1.5V batteries (not included). Push the back cover of the carbon monoxide alarm product to the right to open it. Carefully insert the batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+ and - poles). After inserting batteries, the product will emit a "beep" alarm sound and then enter standby state. The green light will flash once every 30 seconds, indicating normal operation.

  2. Mounting Location:

For optimal protection, it is recommended to place a carbon monoxide detector on every floor of your home and in every bedroom. Avoid installing near ventilation openings, windows, or areas with high humidity or extreme temperatures. The detector can be mounted on a wall or ceiling.

  3. Mounting the Detector:

Once batteries are installed, fix the battery cover (mounting bracket) to the wall or ceiling using the provided screws and anchors. Then, push the alarm unit left into the battery cover to secure it.

Operation

Your carbon monoxide detector is designed for continuous monitoring. Here's how it operates:

  • Normal Operation: In standby mode, the green LED light will flash once every 30 seconds, and the LCD display will show "000 PPM" or the current CO level if any is detected below alarm thresholds.
  • Alarm Conditions: The detector will trigger an alarm based on the following carbon monoxide concentrations and exposure times:
    • 50 ppm: Alarm within 60 to 90 minutes.
    • 100 ppm: Alarm within 10 to 40 minutes.
    • 300 ppm: Alarm within 3 minutes.
When an alarm is triggered, the red LED will flash, and a loud 85-decibel alarm pattern will sound. The LCD display will show the detected CO concentration.

Image: The detector displaying "100 PPM", overlaid on an image of a living room with bubbles indicating different CO concentrations (e.g., 50 PPM, 100 PPM, 150 PPM, 190 PPM, 250 PPM, 300 PPM) to illustrate wide range detection.

  • Test/Reset Button: Press the "Test/Reset" button to verify the alarm function. The alarm will sound briefly, and the LEDs will flash. This button also silences the alarm if it's sounding due to a CO detection, allowing you to ventilate the area.
  • Low Battery Indication: When the battery power is low, the detector will provide a visual or audible indication (e.g., a chirp or a specific low battery icon on the LCD) to prompt battery replacement.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the continued reliability of your carbon monoxide detector:

  • Monthly Testing: Press the "Test/Reset" button monthly to ensure the alarm and indicators are functioning correctly.
  • Cleaning: Gently vacuum or wipe the detector's exterior with a soft, damp cloth at least once a month to remove dust and debris. Do not use cleaning agents or solvents.
  • Battery Replacement: Replace batteries immediately when the low battery indication occurs. Use 3 x AA 1.5V batteries. Always ensure correct polarity.
  • Do Not Paint: Never paint the detector. Paint can clog the sensor openings and interfere with the detector's ability to detect CO.

Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Alarm sounds continuously or frequently.High carbon monoxide concentration detected.Immediately move to fresh air. Call emergency services (fire department). Do not re-enter the premises until it has been aired out and the CO source identified and corrected. Press the Test/Reset button to silence the alarm after ventilating.
Detector chirps periodically.Low battery warning.Replace all 3 AA 1.5V batteries immediately.
No display or unit is unresponsive. No batteries, incorrect battery installation, or dead batteries.Ensure batteries are installed correctly with proper polarity. Replace with new batteries. If the issue persists, the unit may be faulty.
Alarm does not sound during test.Faulty unit or dead batteries.Replace batteries. If still no sound, the unit is faulty and needs replacement.

If troubleshooting steps do not resolve the issue, please contact customer support.
