  • Inputs: Two 1/4" input jacks: HIGH GAIN for maximum output and NORMAL GAIN for standard input levels.
  • Rhythm Channel Controls:
    • Pre-Gain: Adjusts the input sensitivity and overdrive level for the Rhythm channel.
    • Crunch Switch: Engages a crunch mode for the Rhythm channel, adding more grit.
    • Bright Switch: Adds high-frequency sparkle to the Rhythm channel.

  • Power Input: IEC power connector for the detachable power cord.
  • Fuse: User-replaceable fuse for circuit protection. Always replace with the correct type and rating.
  • Effects Loop:
    • SEND: Output for connecting to the input of external effects processors.
    • RETURN: Input for connecting from the output of external effects processors.
  • Preamp Out: Provides a signal output from the preamp section, useful for connecting to other power amplifiers or recording devices.

6. Setup

Proper setup is crucial for optimal performance and safety.

  1. Placement: Place the amplifier head on a stable, level surface, ensuring adequate ventilation. Do not place it on carpet or in enclosed spaces that could restrict airflow.
  2. Speaker Connection: Connect your speaker cabinet(s) to the appropriate speaker output jack(s) on the rear panel. Crucially, match the impedance of your cabinet(s) to the amplifier's output impedance setting. For example, if you have an 8-ohm cabinet, connect it to the 8-ohm output. Using mismatched impedances can damage the amplifier.
  3. Guitar Connection: Connect your guitar to either the HIGH GAIN or NORMAL GAIN input on the front panel using a high-quality instrument cable.
  4. Footswitch Connection: Connect the supplied 2-button footswitch to the REMOTE SWITCH jack on the rear panel.
  5. Power Connection: Ensure the POWER switch is OFF and the STANDBY switch is in the STANDBY position. Connect the IEC power cord to the amplifier's power input and then to a grounded AC outlet.

7. Operating Instructions

Follow these steps to power on and operate your amplifier.

  1. Power On Sequence:
    • Ensure all volume controls (Post-Gain) are set to minimum.
    • Flip the POWER switch to the ON position. Wait approximately 30-60 seconds for the tubes to warm up.
    • Flip the STANDBY switch to the ON position.
    • Slowly increase the Post-Gain control for your desired channel to a comfortable listening level.
  2. Channel Switching: Use the front panel CHANNEL switch or the footswitch to toggle between the Rhythm and Lead channels.
  3. Tone Shaping: Experiment with the Pre-Gain, EQ (Low, Mid, High), Crunch, Bright, Resonance, and Presence controls to achieve your desired sound.
  4. Effects Loop Usage: To integrate external effects, connect the SEND jack to your effect unit's input and the effect unit's output to the RETURN jack. The footswitch can typically bypass the effects loop.
  5. Power Off Sequence:
    • Flip the STANDBY switch to the STANDBY position.
    • Flip the POWER switch to the OFF position.

8. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and performance of your amplifier.

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the amplifier. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Tube Replacement: Vacuum tubes have a finite lifespan. If you notice a decrease in performance, excessive noise, or inconsistent tone, tubes may need replacement. This should ideally be performed by a qualified technician. Always replace tubes with the correct type and matched sets where applicable.
  • Ventilation: Periodically check that ventilation grilles are free from dust and obstructions.
  • Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store the amplifier in a dry, temperature-controlled environment, ideally covered to protect from dust.
