1. Introduction

Drum Pad Layout

The drum set includes 9 distinct pads, each corresponding to a specific drum or cymbal sound:

  • Snare Drum: Produces a sharp, cutting sound.
  • High Tom: Higher pitched tom-tom sound.
  • Low Tom: Mid-range pitched tom-tom sound.
  • Floor Tom: Lower pitched tom-tom sound.
  • Bass Drum: Deep, resonant kick drum sound (controlled by foot pedal).
  • Hi-Hat: Produces a closed hi-hat sound.
  • Open Hi-Hat: Produces an open hi-hat sound (can also be controlled by foot pedal).
  • Crash Cymbal: Loud, accentuating cymbal sound.
  • Ride Cymbal: Sustained, shimmering cymbal sound.

Control Panel and Ports

The central control unit houses the power button, volume controls, mode selection buttons, and various input/output ports.

  • ON/OFF Switch: Powers the unit on or off.
  • USB 5V Port: For power supply and charging.
  • Pedal Inputs: Connect the included foot pedals.
  • Headphone Jack (3.5mm): For private practice.
  • AUX Input (3.5mm): Connect external audio devices (e.g., MP3 player, smartphone) to play along with music.
  • Integrated Stereo Speakers: For audio output without external devices.

4. Setup

4.1 Unpacking and Placement

  1. Carefully remove all components from the packaging.
  2. Unroll the electronic drum pad and place it on a flat, stable surface.

4.2 Connecting Foot Pedals

Connect the two foot pedals to their respective input jacks on the control panel. One pedal controls the Bass Drum, and the other controls the Open/Closed Hi-Hat.

4.3 Powering the Unit

The drum set can be powered via USB or its internal rechargeable battery.

  • USB Power: Connect the provided USB cable to the USB 5V port on the drum set and to a 5V/2A USB power adapter (not included) or a computer USB port.
  • Internal Battery: The unit has a built-in 1200mAh rechargeable battery, providing up to 10 hours of playtime on a full charge. Charge the battery by connecting the USB cable as described above.

  1. Once powered, slide the ON/OFF switch to the 'ON' position.
  2. The unit will power on, and the display (if available) will illuminate.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Basic Drumming

Use the included drumsticks to strike the pads. The foot pedals control the bass drum and hi-hat functions.

5.2 Volume Adjustment

Use the volume control buttons on the control panel to adjust the output volume of the integrated speakers or connected headphones/external speakers. There are 10 adjustable volume levels.

5.3 Audio Output Options

  • Integrated Speakers: The drum set has built-in stereo speakers for direct sound output.
  • Headphone Jack: Connect 3.5mm headphones to the headphone jack for private practice. This will mute the integrated speakers.
  • External Speaker: Connect an external speaker system to the headphone jack using a 3.5mm audio cable for louder output.

5.4 Connecting External Audio (AUX Input)

Use the provided 3.5mm audio cable to connect an external audio source (e.g., smartphone, MP3 player) to the AUX input jack on the control panel. You can then play along with your favorite music.

5.5 Modes and Functions

The drum set offers various modes and functions accessible via the control panel buttons:

  • Timbres: Select from 7 different drum tones/timbres.
  • Demo Songs: Play along with 10 pre-recorded demo songs.
  • Rhythms: Choose from 9 different rhythms to practice with.
  • Recording Function: Press the 'Record' button to capture your drumming performance. The unit supports up to 180 seconds of recording. Press 'Play' to listen to your recorded beats.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning

To clean the drum set, gently wipe the surfaces with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by a dry cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners, solvents, or excessive moisture.

6.2 Storage

The Marrilley 9-Pad Electronic Drum Set is designed to be roll-up and portable for easy storage and transport.

  • Roll up the drum pad carefully, avoiding sharp creases.
  • Store the drum set and accessories in a dry, cool place, away from direct sunlight.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues with your Marrilley 9-Pad Electronic Drum Set, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
