Setup

Follow these steps to assemble and prepare your metal detector for use:

  1. Assemble the Shaft: Connect the upper, middle, and lower shafts. Ensure the cables are properly routed along the shaft and secured with the provided clips. The adjustable shaft allows for comfortable use by users of various heights (from 41" to 48" extended length).
  2. Attach the Search Coil: Securely attach the 10-inch IP68 waterproof search coil to the lower shaft. Ensure the coil cable is connected to the control box.
  3. Install Batteries: Open the battery compartment on the control box and insert the two 9V batteries, observing correct polarity.
  4. Adjust Armrest: Position the armrest for comfortable and stable operation.
  5. Connect Headphones: Plug the included headphones into the designated jack on the control box for private audio alerts.

Operating Modes

Your JYDETOOR Metal Detector features 6 upgraded detection modes to suit various searching conditions and target preferences:

  • All Metal Mode: Detects all types of metals without discrimination. Ideal for general searching when you want to find any metallic object.
  • Discrimination (DISC) Mode: Allows you to eliminate unwanted metal targets (e.g., iron) from detection. This helps focus on valuable items.
  • NOTCH Mode: Enables you to selectively ignore specific categories of metals by "notching out" their signal. The innovative Memory function remembers one kind of metal and only detects that specific type for next time.
  • SENS Mode (Sensitivity): Adjusts the detector's sensitivity to environmental conditions and target depth. Higher sensitivity can detect deeper targets but may also pick up more interference.
  • Pinpoint (PP) Mode: Used to precisely locate the exact position of a detected target. The signal will intensify as you get closer to the object.
  • VOL Mode (Volume): Adjusts the audio output volume of the detector.

This video provides a detailed demonstration of how to operate the metal detector, including turning it on/off, adjusting settings, and using various detection modes.

Display Overview

The intuitive LCD display provides real-time information to enhance your detection efficiency:

  • Target ID: Displays a numerical value (0-99) indicating the probable type of metal detected.
  • Depth Indicator: Shows the approximate depth of the detected target.
  • Sensitivity Level: Indicates the current sensitivity setting.
  • Operating Mode: Displays the active detection mode (e.g., ALL METAL, DISC, NOTCH).
  • Battery Indication: Shows the remaining battery life.
  • Backlight: The screen features a backlight for visibility in low-light conditions.

Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your metal detector, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: After each use, wipe down the search coil and shaft with a damp cloth to remove dirt and debris.
  • Control Box Care: The control box is NOT waterproof. Protect it from moisture, rain, and submersion. If it gets wet, dry it immediately.
  • Search Coil: The 10-inch search coil is IP68 waterproof and can be submerged in water. However, always ensure the connection to the control box is dry before use.
  • Storage: Store the detector in a cool, dry place. If storing for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent leakage.
  • Battery Replacement: Replace batteries when the low battery indicator appears on the LCD display.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your metal detector, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
No power/Does not turn onDead or incorrectly installed batteries.Check battery polarity. Replace with fresh 9V batteries.
Constant beeping/False signalsHigh sensitivity setting, electromagnetic interference, or mineralized ground.Reduce sensitivity. Move away from power lines or other electronic devices. Perform ground balance if available (refer to operating modes).
Weak or no signal detectionLow sensitivity, incorrect mode, or deep/small target.Increase sensitivity. Switch to "All Metal" mode. Ensure the search coil is parallel to the ground.
Inaccurate Target IDMultiple targets, target size/shape, or mineralization.Use Pinpoint mode for precise location. Sweep slowly and consistently.
