3.1 Mounting Location Selection

Choose a suitable location for mounting the cord reel. The unit is designed for both ceiling and wall mounting and should be secured to a sturdy structure such as a wall stud or ceiling joist. 2. Install Cord Reel: Align the cord reel unit with the mounted bracket. Insert the pin through the designated holes on the reel and bracket to secure the unit. Use the keeper pin to prevent accidental dislodgement.
  3. Connect Power: Plug the 4.5 ft lead-in cord of the reel into a grounded 125V AC power outlet.

The 180-degree swivel design of the mounting bracket allows the reel to pivot, providing flexibility to direct the cord in various directions from its mounted position.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Extending the Cord

To extend the cord, simply pull the triple-tap outlet end of the cord away from the reel. The cord will extend smoothly. The internal ratcheting mechanism will lock the cord at various lengths. You will hear a clicking sound as the cord extends and locks into position.

4.2 Locking the Cord

The cord will automatically lock at desired lengths. To lock the cord, pull it out slightly until you hear a click, then release it. The cord should remain at that length.

4.3 Retracting the Cord

To retract the cord, pull the cord out gently until the ratcheting mechanism disengages (you will hear a different sound or feel the tension release). Then, slowly guide the cord back into the reel. Do not release the cord abruptly, as this can cause damage to the reel or the cord itself.

4.5 Circuit Breaker Function

The cord reel is equipped with a 15 Amp circuit breaker to protect against overloads. If the total current drawn by connected devices exceeds 15 Amps, the circuit breaker will trip, cutting off power to the outlets. To reset, unplug all devices, then press the reset button located on the side of the reel.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your SURAIELEC Retractable Extension Cord Reel.

  • Cord Inspection: Periodically inspect the entire length of the cord for any signs of damage, cuts, fraying, or exposed wires. If damage is found, discontinue use immediately and replace the cord or unit.
  • Reel Housing: Keep the reel housing clean and free from dust, debris, and moisture. Wipe with a dry cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Retraction Mechanism: Ensure the retraction mechanism operates smoothly. If it becomes stiff or erratic, check for obstructions. Do not attempt to lubricate internal components unless specified by the manufacturer.
  • Storage: When not in use, retract the cord fully into the reel and store it in a dry, protected area.
