1.2 Intended Use
This reciprocating saw is intended for cutting wood, plastic, metal, and light building materials. It is also suitable for flush cutting. Any other use not expressly approved in this manual may damage the tool and pose a significant risk to the user.
2. Safety Instructions
Always observe general power tool safety warnings and specific safety instructions for reciprocating saws. Failure to follow these warnings and instructions may result in electric shock, fire, and/or serious injury.
2.1 General Power Tool Safety Warnings
- Work Area Safety: Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents. Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust.
- Electrical Safety: Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces.
- Personal Safety: Always wear eye protection, hearing protection, and suitable work gloves. Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. Keep hair and clothing away from moving parts.
- Tool Use and Care: Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. Disconnect the battery pack from the power tool before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power tools.
2.2 Reciprocating Saw Specific Safety Warnings
- Hold the power tool by insulated gripping surfaces when performing an operation where the cutting accessory may contact hidden wiring or its own cord.
- Use clamps or another practical way to secure and support the workpiece to a stable platform. Holding the work by hand or against your body leaves it unstable and may lead to loss of control.
- Always ensure the blade is securely installed before operation.
- Do not touch the blade immediately after use as it may be hot.
