4. Setup and Installation

The IOGIANT AC1200 WiFi Extender can be set up using the WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) method for quick and easy configuration. Alternatively, you can use a web browser for setup.

4.1. WPS Setup Method

Follow these steps to set up your extender using the WPS button:

1. Power on the Extender: Plug the extender into an electrical outlet in the same room as your existing WiFi router. Wait until the Internet LED light blinks blue slowly.

2. Connect to your WiFi Router: Press the WPS button on your WiFi router. The WPS LED status on your router should change, indicating it's ready for pairing.

3. Within 2 minutes, press the WPS button on the extender for 1 second.

4. Verify Connection: Wait until the Signal LED light turns solid blue or orange, which indicates a successful connection with your existing WiFi router. If the Signal LED light does not turn solid blue or orange, reset the extender and try the WEB UI method to set it up again.

5. Relocate the Extender: Please relocate the extender to a location within the WiFi range of your WiFi router, ideally halfway between your router and the WiFi dead zone. Wait until the Signal LED turns solid blue or orange.

6. Connect Your Devices: Now you can connect your WiFi devices to the extended networks. Setup completed!

5. Operating Instructions

Once the extender is successfully set up, it will broadcast extended Wi-Fi networks. These networks will typically have the same name as your original Wi-Fi network with an '_EXT' or similar suffix (e.g., 'YourWiFiName_EXT').

• Connecting Devices: On your Wi-Fi enabled device (smartphone, laptop, tablet, etc.), scan for available Wi-Fi networks. Select the extended network and enter your original Wi-Fi password.
• Dual-Band Operation: The extender supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. The 2.4GHz band offers wider coverage, while the 5GHz band provides faster speeds. Your devices will automatically connect to the optimal band, or you can manually select if your device supports it.
• Ethernet Port: The extender includes an RJ45 Ethernet port. You can use this port to connect a wired device (like a desktop computer, smart TV, or game console) to your network, providing a stable wired connection in areas with weak Wi-Fi.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your IOGIANT AC1200 WiFi Extender, please refer to the following common problems and solutions:

• No Internet Access After Setup:
  • Ensure the Signal LED is solid blue or orange. If it's off, the extender is not connected to your router. Try relocating it closer to the router or re-running the setup process.
  • Verify that your main router has an active internet connection.
  • Check if you entered the correct Wi-Fi password during setup.
• Weak Signal or Slow Speed:
  • Relocate the extender. It should be placed within the range of your main router, ideally halfway between the router and the area needing extended coverage. Avoid physical obstructions like thick walls or large metal objects.
  • If the Signal LED is solid orange, it indicates a weak signal from the router. Try moving the extender closer to the router.
  • Ensure there are no strong interference sources nearby (e.g., microwaves, cordless phones).
• Cannot Connect to the Extended Network:
  • Restart both your main router and the extender.
  • Forget the extended network on your device and try reconnecting.
  • Reset the extender to factory defaults (using the reset button, typically a small pinhole) and perform the setup again.
• WPS Setup Fails:
  • Ensure you press the WPS button on both the router and the extender within the 2-minute window.
  • Some routers may have a different WPS activation method or a different button. Consult your router's manual.
  • If WPS continues to fail, use the web browser setup method (refer to the Quick Installation Guide for detailed steps).
