Product Overview

The Kisnt KN17 is a compact 17-key wired mechanical numeric keypad designed to enhance productivity for various tasks, from data entry to general computing. It features hot-swappable switches, PBT dye-sublimation keycaps, and white backlighting.

Setup Guide

2. Connecting the Number Pad

The KN17 number pad connects to your computer via the included USB-C to USB-A cable. Simply plug the USB-C end into the port on the number pad and the USB-A end into an available USB port on your computer.

3. Compatibility

The mechanical number pad is compatible with most operating systems, including Windows, Mac, and Android. It is a plug-and-play device and typically requires no additional drivers.

Note:

• The 10-key functionality is not compatible with ChromeBook.
• It is not fully compatible with Mac OS, as Apple products do not support external function keys/buttons for certain features.

Operating Instructions

1. Key Layout and Functions

The KN17 features a standard 17-key layout, including numeric keys (0-9), arithmetic operators (+, -, *, /), Enter, Num Lock, Home, End, PgUp, PgDn, Insert, and Delete.

• FN + * (Asterisk): Activates Backspace function.
• FN + / (Slash): Activates Calculator function.

2. Backlighting

The KN17 features white backlighting to enhance visibility in various lighting conditions. Please note that the lights are not designed to be visible through the keycaps themselves, but rather illuminate around them.

3. Hot-Swappable Switches

The KN17 is designed with hot-swappable sockets, allowing users to easily change mechanical switches without soldering. It supports almost all 3-pin and 5-pin MX style mechanical switches.

4. Multi-layer Silencing Structure

The keyboard incorporates a multi-layered cushion design for improved typing comfort and sound. This includes a Poron bottom layer, sandwich foam, and an IXPE switch pad, contributing to a consistent and pleasant keystroke sound.

Maintenance

1. Cleaning

To clean your number pad, disconnect it from your computer. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe down the keycaps and casing. For deeper cleaning, you may use a slightly damp cloth with mild soap, ensuring no liquid enters the internal components. Air duster can be used to remove debris between keycaps.

2. Keycap Care

The KN17 comes with PBT Dye-Sublimation keycaps, known for their durability and resistance to shine and fading. While highly durable, avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials for cleaning to preserve the legends and texture.

3. Switch Replacement

Due to the hot-swappable design, individual switches can be replaced if they become faulty or if you wish to customize your typing experience. Use a switch puller tool (not included) to gently remove the switch, then align and press in the new switch until it clicks into place.

Troubleshooting

1. Number Pad Not Recognized

• Ensure the USB cable is securely connected to both the number pad and your computer.
• Try plugging the cable into a different USB port on your computer.
• Test with a different USB cable if available.
• Restart your computer.
• Verify compatibility with your operating system (refer to the "Compatibility" section).

2. Backlight Not Working or Flickering

• Check the backlight settings using the appropriate key combinations (refer to "Operating Instructions").
• Ensure the number pad is receiving sufficient power from the USB port.
• Try connecting to a different USB port.

3. Keys Not Responding

• Ensure Num Lock is enabled if you are trying to use the numeric functions.
• If individual keys are not responding, the switch may be faulty. Utilize the hot-swappable feature to replace the affected switch.
• Clean any debris that might be lodged under the keycaps.
