6. Maintenance
Regular cleaning and proper care will ensure the longevity and appearance of your stainless steel work table.
6.1 Cleaning
- For daily cleaning, wipe surfaces with a soft cloth dampened with warm water and a mild detergent.
- Rinse thoroughly with clean water and dry immediately to prevent water spots and streaks.
- For stubborn stains, use a non-abrasive stainless steel cleaner and follow the product instructions.
- Always wipe in the direction of the grain of the stainless steel to avoid scratching.
- Avoid using abrasive cleaners, steel wool, or harsh chemicals (e.g., bleach, ammonia-based cleaners) as these can damage the stainless steel finish and promote corrosion.
6.2 Preventing Corrosion
While the table is made of corrosion-resistant stainless steel, improper care can lead to rust or discoloration:
- Do not leave acidic foods or liquids on the surface for extended periods.
- Avoid contact with iron or carbon steel objects, which can cause "flash rust" through galvanic corrosion.
- Ensure the table is kept dry, especially in humid environments.
7. Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your work table.
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Table is wobbly or unstable. | Uneven floor surface; loose leg connections; undershelf not secured. | Adjust the bullet feet until the table is stable. Ensure all leg and undershelf screws are tightened. |
| Rust spots appear on stainless steel. | Exposure to harsh chemicals; prolonged contact with iron/carbon steel; improper cleaning; high humidity. | Clean immediately with a non-abrasive stainless steel cleaner. Avoid abrasive materials. Ensure surfaces are dry after cleaning. Review Section 6.2 for prevention. |
| Undershelf slides down. | Allen screws securing the undershelf are loose. | Re-tighten the Allen screws firmly. Ensure the shelf is not overloaded beyond its 370 lb capacity. |
