4. Setup and Installation
4.1. Car Seat Base Installation
The car seat base can be installed using either the vehicle's LATCH system or the vehicle's seat belt. Always ensure a snug fit and check for movement.
- Positioning the Base: Place the car seat base rear-facing on the vehicle seat.
- Adjusting Recline: Utilize the Flip Foot Recline feature to achieve the correct angle. Refer to the bubble level indicator on the side of the base to ensure the bubble is within the designated green zone for proper recline.
- LATCH System Installation: Locate your vehicle's lower anchor bars. Attach the LATCH connectors from the car seat base to the vehicle's anchor bars. Tighten the LATCH strap until the base is secure and does not move more than one inch side-to-side or front-to-back at the belt path.
- Vehicle Seat Belt Installation: If using the vehicle's seat belt, route the lap and shoulder belt through the designated belt path on the car seat base. Buckle the seat belt and remove all slack by pressing down firmly on the base while tightening the belt.

Once the base is securely installed:
- Align the infant car seat with the base.
- Lower the car seat onto the base until you hear an audible 'click', indicating it is securely latched.
- Gently pull up on the car seat to confirm it is firmly attached to the base.

5. Operating the Car Seat
5.1. Securing Your Child
- Place your infant in the car seat. Ensure their back is flat against the seat back.
- Bring the 5-point harness straps over your child's shoulders and between their legs.
- Connect the two buckle tongues into the buckle until you hear a 'click'.
- Fasten the chest clip at armpit level.
- Tighten the harness straps until they are snug against your child's body. The No-Twist Harness Indicator helps ensure straps are not twisted.

5.2. Adjusting the Harness
As your child grows, the harness straps will need to be adjusted. The harness can be re-threaded to higher shoulder slots to accommodate your child's height. Always ensure the shoulder straps are at or below your child's shoulders when rear-facing.
5.3. Handle Position
The carrying handle has multiple positions. When the car seat is installed in a vehicle, the handle should be placed in the forward-most position, acting as an anti-rebound bar to limit rotation in the event of a collision.

6. Maintenance and Cleaning
Regular cleaning helps maintain the car seat's condition and hygiene.
- Fabric Components: The seat pad and infant insert are removable for cleaning. Refer to the care labels for specific washing instructions, typically machine wash cold on a delicate cycle and air dry.
- Harness Straps: Wipe harness straps with a damp cloth. Do not machine wash or submerge harness straps in water, as this can weaken the webbing.
- Plastic and Metal Parts: Wipe plastic and metal parts with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your car seat, refer to the following common solutions:
- Loose Installation: Ensure all slack is removed from the LATCH strap or vehicle seat belt. Press down firmly on the base while tightening. Check the level indicator.
- Harness Twisting: The No-Twist Harness Indicator helps prevent this. If straps are twisted, unthread them and re-thread them correctly, ensuring they lie flat.
- Difficulty Buckling: Ensure no fabric is obstructing the buckle mechanism. Check that the buckle tongues are inserted correctly.
