3. Setup
3.1 Battery Installation
The clock and outdoor sensor are battery-operated. Batteries are not included.
- For the Clock: Open the battery compartment on the back of the clock. Insert 3 AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
- For the Outdoor Sensor: Open the battery compartment on the back of the sensor. Insert 2 AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).

3.2 Outdoor Sensor Placement
For accurate outdoor temperature readings, place the wireless outdoor sensor within 330 feet (100 meters) of the main clock unit. Ensure it is positioned out of direct sunlight and rain to prevent inaccurate readings and damage.

Figure 3: Recommended placement for the outdoor sensor to ensure accurate temperature readings.
3.3 Initial Synchronization (Atomic Time)
After battery installation, the clock will automatically attempt to synchronize with the WWVB radio broadcast. This process may take several minutes to several hours depending on your location and signal strength. The clock will update automatically every midnight to ensure accurate time.

Figure 4: The atomic clock automatically synchronizes with the WWVB radio signal.
3.4 Time Zone and DST Setting
The clock supports 4 time zones: EST, CST, MST, PST. You can select your desired time zone using the buttons on the back of the clock. The clock also features an automatic Daylight Saving Time (DST) function. When DST is enabled, the clock will automatically adjust forward or backward one hour during the start and end of Daylight Saving Time.

Figure 5: The 'AUTO DST' indicator on the display confirms automatic Daylight Saving Time adjustment is active.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Display Overview
The clock's large display shows various information:

Figure 6: Detailed view of the clock display with all indicators labeled.
- Time: Displays current time with seconds in large digits.
- AM/PM Indicator: For 12-hour format.
- Alarm Icon: Indicates if the alarm is set.
- Atomic Time Icon: Indicates successful WWVB signal reception.
- Time Zone: Displays the selected time zone (EST, CST, MST, PST).
- DST Indicator: Shows if automatic Daylight Saving Time is active.
- Low Battery Warning: Appears when clock or sensor batteries are low.
- Indoor Temperature: Current indoor temperature.
- Outdoor Temperature: Current outdoor temperature received from the sensor.
- Date: Current month and day.
- Day of Week: Current day of the week.
4.2 12/24 Hour Format
The clock can display time in either 12-hour (AM/PM) or 24-hour (military) format. Use the designated button on the back of the clock to switch between these modes. The alarm time will automatically follow the selected time format.

4.3 Temperature Unit Selection
The temperature display can be switched between Fahrenheit (°F) and Celsius (°C). A button on the back of the clock allows you to toggle between these units for both indoor and outdoor temperature readings.

4.4 Alarm Function
The clock includes an alarm function. When the alarm is set, a corresponding icon will appear on the screen. The alarm can be manually turned off if not needed.

5. Maintenance
5.1 Battery Replacement
When the batteries in the clock or outdoor sensor are running low, a low battery symbol will appear on the screen and blink. Replace the batteries promptly to ensure continuous operation and accurate readings. Refer to Section 3.1 for battery type and installation.
5.2 Cleaning
To clean the clock and sensor, use a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these may damage the display or casing.
6. Troubleshooting
6.1 No Atomic Signal / Incorrect Time
- Location: Ensure the clock is placed in an area with good reception, away from large metal objects, electronics, or concrete walls that may interfere with the WWVB signal.
- Manual Correction: If the atomic signal is consistently weak or unavailable, you may need to manually set the time. Refer to the specific buttons on the back of the clock for manual time adjustment.
- Reset: If the clock displays an incorrect date or time after an update, try moving it to a window and allowing it to re-synchronize. A hard reset (removing and reinserting batteries) may also resolve the issue.
6.2 Outdoor Temperature Not Displaying
- Battery Check: Ensure the outdoor sensor has fresh batteries and they are installed correctly. A low battery symbol for the sensor will blink on the clock display.
- Proximity: Place the outdoor sensor closer to the main clock unit. The maximum range is 330 feet (100 meters) in open air, but obstacles can reduce this.
- Re-pairing: If the sensor still doesn't register, try removing batteries from both the clock and sensor, waiting a few minutes, then reinserting batteries into the sensor first, then the clock. Place the sensor next to the clock during this process to facilitate pairing.
- Environmental Factors: Ensure the sensor is not exposed to direct sunlight or rain, which can affect its performance and accuracy.
6.3 General Display Issues
- Low Battery: Check for the low battery indicator and replace batteries if necessary.
- Contrast: Some digital displays have adjustable contrast. Check if your model has such a feature on the back.
