2. Safety Information

WARNING: Electrical installation should only be performed by qualified personnel. Ensure power is disconnected at the circuit breaker before installation to prevent electric shock.

• Always disconnect power before installing or servicing the device.
• This device requires a neutral wire for operation. Ensure your electrical box has a neutral wire available.
• Do not exceed the maximum load rating of 16A.
• Install the module in a standard wall switch box with sufficient depth (minimum 45mm recommended).

4. Setup and Installation

Before beginning installation, ensure you have the necessary tools: screwdriver, wire strippers, and voltage tester.

4.1 Physical Installation

1. Turn off Power: Locate the circuit breaker controlling the switch you intend to smarten and turn off the power. Verify power is off using a voltage tester.
2. Remove Existing Switch: Carefully remove the wall plate and unscrew the existing switch from the wall box. Gently pull the switch out to expose the wiring.
3. Identify Wires: Identify the Live (Line In), Load (Line Out), Neutral, and Switch wires. A neutral wire (usually blue or black, but check local codes) is required.
4. Connect the Module:
   • Connect the Live (L-in) wire from your wall box to the L-in terminal on the module.
   • Connect the Neutral (N-in) wire from your wall box to the N-in terminal on the module.
   • Connect the Load (L-out) wire (going to your light fixture) to the L-out terminal on the module.
   • Connect the Neutral (N-out) wire (if applicable, usually connected to the light fixture's neutral) to the N-out terminal on the module.
   • Connect the two wires from your existing toggle switch to the S1 and S2 terminals on the module. The module will detect the switch state.
5. Secure the Module: Carefully place the mini relay module into the wall switch box. Ensure wires are not pinched.
6. Reinstall Switch and Wall Plate: Screw the original switch back into place and attach the wall plate.
7. Restore Power: Turn the power back on at the circuit breaker.

4.2 App Pairing (Smart Life / Tuya App)

1. Download App: Download the "Smart Life" or "Tuya Smart" app from your smartphone's app store (iOS App Store or Google Play Store).
2. Register/Login: Open the app and register for a new account or log in if you already have one.
3. Enter Pairing Mode: After restoring power, the module should automatically enter pairing mode (indicated by a rapidly blinking light, if visible, or by toggling the connected switch quickly several times). If not, refer to the app's instructions for manual pairing mode activation.
4. Add Device: In the app, tap the "+" icon (usually in the top right corner) to add a new device. Select "Electrical" > "Switch (Wi-Fi)" or "Smart Switch".
5. Connect to Wi-Fi: Follow the on-screen prompts to connect the module to your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. Ensure your phone is also connected to the same 2.4GHz network during pairing.
6. Complete Pairing: Once the device is discovered and added, you can rename it for easy identification (e.g., "Living Room Light").

5.1 Manual Control

The connected physical toggle switch will continue to function normally, allowing you to turn the light/appliance on or off manually.

5.2 App Control

Open the Smart Life/Tuya app. Tap on the device name you assigned (e.g., "Living Room Light") to access its control interface. You can toggle the switch on/off, set schedules, countdowns, and create scenes.

• On/Off Toggle: Tap the main button to turn the connected device on or off.
• Scheduling: Set specific times for the light/appliance to turn on or off daily or on selected days.
• Countdown: Set a timer for the device to turn off after a specified duration.
• Scene Creation: Combine multiple smart devices into a single scene (e.g., "Movie Night" scene turns off main lights and turns on accent lights).
• Multi-Control Association: In the app, you can link this module with other smart switches to control the same light from different locations, creating a virtual 2-way or 3-way switch setup without additional wiring.

5.3 Voice Control (Alexa / Google Assistant)

To enable voice control, link your Smart Life/Tuya account with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant through their respective apps.

• For Amazon Alexa:
  1. Open the Alexa app.
  2. Go to "Skills & Games".
  3. Search for "Smart Life" or "Tuya Smart".
  4. Enable the skill and link your Smart Life/Tuya account.
  5. Discover devices (Alexa will automatically find your connected module).
• For Google Assistant:
  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Tap "+" > "Set up device" > "Works with Google".
  3. Search for "Smart Life" or "Tuya Smart".
  4. Link your Smart Life/Tuya account.

Once linked, you can use voice commands such as:

• "Alexa, turn on Living Room Light."
• "Hey Google, turn off Kitchen Light."
• "Alexa, set Living Room Light to 50%." (If connected to a dimmable light and compatible with the module, though this module is ON-OFF only).
