4. Setup and Wiring
Proper wiring is crucial for the correct functioning of the ultrasonic sensor module. Refer to the interface diagram below for connection details.

Figure 4: Product Interface Diagram illustrating the pinout and wire color definitions.
4.1 Pin Definition
| Leading Wire Number | Leading Wire Name | Description | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 (White) | VCC | Power Input Leading Wire | Connect to DC 3.3V-12V power supply |
| 2 (Black) | GND | Power Grounding Leading Wire | Connect to ground |
| 3 (Yellow) | RX/B | Function Leading Wire | Output/Input depending on model |
| 4 (Red) | TX/A | Function Leading Wire | Output/Input depending on model |
Note: The output mode of the pin function and the product model must correspond to each other and cannot coexist with other output modes.
4.2 Power Supply
Ensure the power supply is within the specified range of DC 3.3V to 12V. The module is designed to be compatible with various power supply scenarios, including battery power, USB power, and switching power supplies, even those with significant noise.
5. Operating Instructions
Once correctly wired and powered, the sensor operates in UART automatic output mode, continuously providing distance data.
5.1 Data Output
The module automatically outputs distance measurements via the UART interface. The output response time ranges from 8 to 140 milliseconds.
5.2 Interference Detection
The sensor utilizes heterodyne acoustic waving processing technology. If homodyne interference is detected in the environment, the module will output 'FFFE' data to indicate its presence. This allows for environmental awareness and potential adjustment of sensor placement or operating conditions.

5.3 Temperature Compensation
The module includes built-in temperature compensation, which helps maintain measurement accuracy across varying ambient temperatures.
5.4 Measuring Range
The sensor has a plane ranging capability from 2 cm to 300 cm (0.8 to 118.1 inches). The blind area, where accurate measurements cannot be taken, is less than 2 cm.

6. Maintenance
The Hilitand Ultrasonic Sensor Module is designed for durability and low maintenance. Its IP67 rating provides significant protection against environmental factors.
- Cleaning: Periodically inspect the sensor probes for any accumulation of dust, dirt, or debris. Gently clean the probe surfaces with a soft, dry cloth to ensure unobstructed ultrasonic wave transmission and reception. Avoid using abrasive materials or harsh chemicals.
- Environmental Protection: While the sensor is IP67 waterproof, prolonged submersion or exposure to extreme conditions beyond its rating should be avoided to maximize its lifespan.
- Cable Integrity: Regularly check the connecting wires for any signs of wear, cuts, or damage. Ensure connections remain secure.
7. Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues you might encounter with the ultrasonic sensor module.
- No Data Output:
- Verify that the module is correctly powered within the DC 3.3V-12V range.
- Check all wiring connections (VCC, GND, RX/B, TX/A) according to the interface diagram (Figure 4).
- Ensure the UART communication settings on your receiving device match the sensor's output.
- Inaccurate Readings:
- Ensure the sensor probes are clean and free from obstructions.
- Check if the target object is within the specified plane range of 2-300 cm and outside the blind area (< 2 cm).
- Minimize acoustic interference from other ultrasonic devices or noisy environments.
- 'FFFE' Data Output:
- This indicates the presence of homodyne interference in the environment. Consider repositioning the sensor or the interfering source if possible.
- While the sensor has anti-interference capabilities, severe interference can still affect readings.
- Intermittent Operation:
- Check for loose wire connections or intermittent power supply.
- Ensure the operating temperature is within acceptable limits for electronic components.
