Device Display and Indicators

  • Cellular Signal Strength: Indicates the strength of the mobile network signal.
  • Data Transmission Activity: Shows when data is being sent or received.
  • Battery Charge Level: Displays the current battery percentage.

  • Wi-Fi Status: Indicates if Wi-Fi is active and the number of connected devices.

Ports and Buttons

  • USB-C Port: Used for charging the device and for wired USB tethering.
  • Power Button: Used to turn the device on/off and wake/sleep the screen.
  • RJ45 Ethernet Port: Allows for a direct wired connection to a single device, such as a laptop or PC, for enhanced data transfer speeds. This function requires the device to be plugged into power and enabled via the web interface.

Setup

1. Battery and SIM Card Installation

  1. Remove the back cover of the MiFi M1000 device.
  2. Insert the Verizon SIM card into the designated SIM card slot. Ensure it is oriented correctly.
  3. Insert one or both included Lithium Ion batteries into the battery compartment.
  4. Replace the back cover securely.

2. Initial Power On and Charging

  1. Connect the device to the QC Charger using the USB Type-C cable.
  2. Press and hold the Power button until the screen illuminates.
  3. Allow the device to fully charge before first use for optimal battery performance.

3. Verizon Activation Guide

To activate your mobile hotspot with Verizon, follow these steps:

  1. Gather Necessary Information:
    • Locate your device's IMEI number and the SIM Card ICCID number on the device's packaging box or inside the battery compartment (Note 1).
    • Copy these numbers for reference.
  2. Begin Activation:
  3. Provide Details to the Live Agent:
    • Inform them that you have purchased a Mobile Hotspot bundled with a Verizon SIM card.
    • Request assistance in purchasing a suitable data plan for your hotspot.

  1. Customer Identification:
    • Indicate whether you are a new Verizon customer or an existing customer (Note 2).
    • The agent will guide you through the appropriate verification process based on your customer status and location.
  2. Mobile Number Assignment:
    • Provide the IMEI number and SIM Card ICCID number from the device packaging.
    • The agent will assign a mobile number to your SIM Card ICCID.
  3. Complete Payment and Activation:
    • The agent will send you a payment link for the data plan you have chosen (Note 3).
    • After a successful checkout, restart your device to initiate activation.
    • Allow 1-2 hours for your data plan to be fully activated and added to your account.
  4. Start Using Your Hotspot:
    • Once activation is complete, your Mobile Hotspot is ready for use with your new prepaid data plan.

Notes:

  • Note 1: Another way to find IMEI and SIM ICCID: Remove the battery, then view the IMEI printed inside the battery compartment. SIM card ICCID 20-digit number is printed on the back of a SIM card holder.
  • Note 2: For new customers: If you are not a resident and do not have either a Tax Identification Number (TIN) or a Social Security Number, please ask a chat agent to provide you with a registration form for non-residents.
  • Note 3: To ensure a successful checkout, please make sure to enter the same ZIP code in both the registration form (for new customers) and the payment link during checkout.

Operating Instructions

Connecting Devices via Wi-Fi

  1. Ensure your MiFi M1000 is powered on.
  2. On your Wi-Fi enabled device (laptop, smartphone, tablet), search for available Wi-Fi networks.
  3. Select the Wi-Fi network name (SSID) displayed on your MiFi M1000's screen.
  4. Enter the Wi-Fi password (security key) shown on the MiFi M1000's screen when prompted.
  5. Your device should now be connected to the internet. The MiFi M1000 supports up to 30 Wi-Fi enabled devices simultaneously.

Connecting Devices via Ethernet (RJ45 Port)

  1. Ensure the MiFi M1000 is plugged into a power source.
  2. Connect one end of an Ethernet cable to the RJ45 Ethernet Port on your MiFi M1000.
  3. Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port on your computer or other network device.
  4. Access the MiFi M1000's web interface (see below) and enable the Ethernet port function if it's not already active.
  5. The connected device should now have internet access via the wired connection.

Using the Touchscreen Display

The 2.4-inch touchscreen display provides quick access to device status and settings. Tap on icons to view details such as data usage, connected devices, and network information. Use the 'Menu' button to navigate through advanced settings and the 'Help' button for on-screen assistance.

Accessing the Web Interface

For advanced settings and customization, you can access the device's web interface:

  1. Connect your computer or device to the MiFi M1000 via Wi-Fi or Ethernet.
  2. Open a web browser and enter the default IP address (usually 192.168.1.1 or mifi.home) into the address bar. Refer to your device's screen or packaging for the exact address.
  3. Enter the administrator password when prompted. This is typically found on a sticker inside the battery compartment or on the device packaging.
  4. From the web interface, you can customize operating modes, security levels, Wi-Fi settings, and manage connected devices.

Guest Wi-Fi Network

The MiFi M1000 supports a Guest Wi-Fi network, allowing you to provide internet access to visitors without sharing your main network password. This feature can be configured via the device's touchscreen menu or the web interface.

Power Bank Function

The MiFi M1000 can also function as a power bank to charge other devices, such as your smartphone. Connect your device to the MiFi M1000 using a compatible USB cable to initiate charging.

Maintenance

  • Battery Care: The device comes with a 4400 mAh battery, providing up to 8 hours of active use. For optimal battery life, avoid extreme temperatures and fully charge the device regularly. Quick Charge (QC) technology allows for a full charge in approximately 2.5 hours.
  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the device's exterior and screen. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.

  • Software Updates: Periodically check for firmware updates via the device's web interface to ensure optimal performance and security.

Troubleshooting

  • No Internet Connection:
    • Ensure your data plan is active with Verizon.
    • Check cellular signal strength on the device display.
    • Restart the MiFi M1000 and the connected device.
    • Verify Wi-Fi password and network selection.
  • Slow Speeds:
    • Check cellular signal strength; move to an area with better reception.
    • Reduce the number of connected devices.
    • Ensure no background applications are consuming excessive bandwidth.
    • Actual speeds depend on your operator's network and local conditions.
  • Device Not Powering On:
    • Ensure the battery is properly installed and charged.
    • Connect the device to the charger and attempt to power on.
  • APN Setup for AT&T and T-Mobile:
    • If using with AT&T or T-Mobile, APN (Access Point Name) setup is required. This can typically be done via the device's web interface under network settings.
    • Refer to your carrier's support documentation for the correct APN settings. EVDO-LINK offers phone assistance during business hours for setup.
  • Ethernet Port Not Working:
    • Ensure the MiFi M1000 is plugged into a power source.
    • Verify that the Ethernet port function is enabled in the device's web interface.
    • Check the Ethernet cable for damage and ensure it is securely connected.
