Setup

Power Connection:

The boombox can be powered by AC current or batteries.

  • AC Power: Connect the supplied AC power cord to the AC IN socket on the unit and then to a wall outlet (100-240 VAC, 50/60 Hz).
  • Battery Power: For portable use, insert 6 x LR20 (D size) batteries into the battery compartment. Ensure correct polarity (+/-). Batteries are not included.

Antenna Setup:

For optimal FM radio reception, fully extend the telescopic antenna. Adjust its position for the best signal.

Operating Instructions

General Operation:

  1. Press the POWER button to turn the unit on or off.
  2. Press the SOURCE button repeatedly to select the desired audio source (CD, Cassette, FM, Bluetooth, USB, AUX).
  3. Adjust the volume using the VOLUME knob.

CD Playback:

  1. Open the CD compartment cover.
  2. Place a CD with the label side facing up.
  3. Close the CD compartment cover.
  4. Select CD source. Playback will start automatically.
  5. Use the PLAY/PAUSE, SKIP, and STOP buttons for control.

Cassette Playback:

  1. Open the cassette compartment.
  2. Insert a cassette tape.
  3. Close the cassette compartment.
  4. Select TAPE source. Press PLAY to begin playback.
  5. Use REWIND and FAST FORWARD for navigation.

Bluetooth Streaming:

Pair your Bluetooth-enabled device with the boombox to stream audio wirelessly.

  1. Select Bluetooth source on the boombox. The display will show "PAIRING".
  2. Enable Bluetooth on your device and search for "PHILIPS AZ780" (or similar model name).
  3. Select the boombox from the list to pair. Once connected, the display will show "CONNECTED".
  4. Play audio from your device, and it will stream through the boombox.

FM Radio:

  1. Select FM source.
  2. Press and hold the TUNING buttons to automatically scan for stations.
  3. Press the ALBUM/PRESET buttons to navigate through saved stations.

USB Playback:

  1. Insert a USB flash drive into the USB port.
  2. Select USB source. Playback of compatible audio files will begin.
  3. Use the playback controls to navigate tracks.

AUX Input:

Connect external audio devices using a 3.5mm audio cable (included).

  1. Connect one end of the audio cable to the AUDIO IN jack on the boombox.
  2. Connect the other end to the headphone jack or audio output of your external device.
  3. Select AUX source. Play audio from your external device.

  • Dynamic Bass Boost (DBB): Press the DBB button to activate or deactivate enhanced bass.
  • Digital Sound Control (DSC): Press the DSC button to cycle through various preset equalizer settings (e.g., Powerful, Clear, Bright, Warm, Balance) to optimize sound for different music genres.

Maintenance

Cleaning:

  • Wipe the unit with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • For the CD lens, use a specialized CD lens cleaner.
  • Keep the cassette deck clean from dust and debris.

Storage:

When not in use for extended periods, disconnect the power cord and remove batteries. Store the unit in a cool, dry place.
