1. Introduction

Thank you for purchasing the Bear 3-Cup Electric Pressure Multi-Cooker. 2. Important Safety Instructions

  • This appliance cooks under pressure. Improper use may result in scalding injury. Ensure unit is properly closed before operating.
  • Never force open the pressure cooker. Ensure internal pressure is completely released before opening.
  • When cooking with the nonstick inner pot, use only soft utensils such as plastic or wood to prevent scratching the coating. Do not use metal spoons or chopsticks directly in the pot.
  • Do not clean the nonstick inner pot in a dishwasher to extend its lifespan. Hand washing is recommended.
  • The steam release button is designed to direct steam away from the user for safety.

4. Setup

4.1 Unpacking and Initial Cleaning

  1. Remove all packaging materials and promotional labels from the multi-cooker.
  2. Wash the inner pot, rice spoon, and measuring cup with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely.
  3. Wipe the exterior of the main unit and the lid with a damp cloth. Do not immerse the main unit in water.
  4. Ensure the detachable filter inside the lid is clean and properly installed.

4.2 Placement

  • Place the multi-cooker on a stable, level, heat-resistant surface.
  • Ensure there is adequate space around the appliance for ventilation and steam release. Do not place it directly under cabinets.
  • Keep the appliance away from heat sources and water.

4.3 Assembling the Unit

  1. Place the clean inner pot into the main unit, ensuring it sits correctly and is level.
  2. Align the lid with the main unit and close it by rotating it clockwise until it locks securely. The safety lock design ensures the lid is properly sealed.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Control Panel Overview

  • LCD Display: Shows cooking time, preset time, and error codes.
  • Preset Timer: Sets a delayed start time for cooking.
  • Warm/Cancel: Cancels the current program or activates the keep warm function.
  • Function Buttons: Dedicated buttons for White Rice, Brown Rice, Porridge/Oatmeal, Soup/Broth, Stew/Meat, Slow Cook, Pressure Cook, and Bean/Grain.

5.2 General Operation Steps

  1. Add ingredients to the inner pot according to your recipe. Do not exceed the maximum fill line.
  2. Place the inner pot into the main unit and close the lid securely.
  3. Plug the power cord into a grounded electrical outlet. The display will illuminate.
  4. Select your desired cooking function by pressing the corresponding button (e.g., "White Rice"). The default cooking time will appear on the display.
  5. To adjust the cooking time (if applicable for the selected function), press the function button repeatedly until the desired time is displayed.
  6. The cooker will automatically begin the pre-heating and pressurizing process. Once pressure is reached, the cooking countdown will begin.
  7. When cooking is complete, the unit will beep and automatically switch to the "Keep Warm" mode (unless cancelled).
  8. Carefully release pressure before opening the lid. Use the steam release button to safely vent steam away from your hands and face.
  9. Once pressure is fully released, open the lid by rotating it counter-clockwise.

5.3 Specific Cooking Functions and Times

The following table provides approximate cooking times for various functions. Note that pre-heating and pressurizing time is additional and varies based on food quantity and type.

Note: For functions like Soup/Broth and Bean/Grain, the cooker will use default times that can be adjusted. The unit must pressurize before cooking begins. The time displayed in the table is the active cooking time after pressurization is complete. Total cooking time will be longer.

5.4 Using the Preset Timer

The Preset Timer allows you to delay the start of cooking. This is useful for preparing meals in advance.

  1. Add ingredients and close the lid as described in General Operation.
  2. Select your desired cooking function.
  3. Press the "Preset Timer" button. Use the function buttons to adjust the delay time in hours.
  4. Once the desired delay time is set, the cooker will start counting down the delay. After the delay, it will automatically begin the selected cooking program.

5.5 Keep Warm Function

After most cooking programs are complete, the multi-cooker will automatically switch to a "Keep Warm" mode to maintain food temperature. To manually activate or deactivate this function, press the "Warm/Cancel" button.

6. Cleaning and Maintenance

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the lifespan of your appliance. Always unplug the multi-cooker and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.

6.1 Inner Pot

  • Remove the inner pot from the main unit.
  • Wash the inner pot with warm, soapy water using a soft sponge or cloth.
  • Important: Do not use abrasive cleaners, metal scouring pads, or sharp utensils, as these can damage the nonstick coating.
  • Rinse thoroughly and dry completely before storing or re-using.
  • Do not wash the inner pot in a dishwasher. Hand washing is recommended to preserve the nonstick coating.

6.2 Lid

  • Remove the lid from the main unit.
  • Detach the filter from the inside of the lid. Wash the filter and the lid with warm, soapy water.
  • Ensure all food residue is removed from the sealing gasket and steam release valve.
  • Rinse thoroughly and dry completely. Reattach the filter before storing.

6.3 Main Unit Exterior

  • Wipe the exterior of the main unit with a damp cloth.
  • Do not immerse the main unit in water or any other liquid.
  • Ensure the area between the base and the pot is clean. The 1.2cm gap is designed for easy cleaning.

7. Troubleshooting
