2. Safety Information

WARNING: Failure to follow these instructions may result in fire, explosion, serious injury, or death.

• Use Outdoors Only: This lantern produces carbon monoxide, which is odorless and can be deadly. Never use indoors, in tents, campers, vehicles, or other unventilated areas.
• Flammable Fuels: Use only Coleman Liquid Fuel or unleaded gasoline. Never use white gas, kerosene, alcohol, diesel, or other alternative fuels.
• Hot Surfaces: The lantern becomes extremely hot during operation and remains hot for a period after being turned off. Allow to cool completely before handling or storing.

4. Setup

4.1. Fueling the Lantern

1. Ensure the lantern is cool and the fuel valve is in the "OFF" position.
2. Unscrew the fuel cap slowly to release any pressure.
3. Using the provided filtering funnel, carefully pour Coleman Liquid Fuel or unleaded gasoline into the fuel tank. Do not fill past the fill line or overfill. The tank capacity is approximately 2.5 pints.
4. Securely replace the fuel cap.

4.2. Installing Mantles

1. Remove the ventilator and glass globe.
2. Attach a new String Tie #21 mantle to each burner tube, ensuring it is tied securely.
3. Carefully trim any excess string.
4. Priming the Mantles: Using a match, carefully light the bottom edge of each mantle. Allow the mantles to burn completely to a white ash. This process is called "priming" or "seasoning" the mantles.
5. Once the mantles are fully primed and cool, replace the glass globe and ventilator.

5. Operating the Lantern

5.1. Pumping Pressure

1. Ensure the fuel cap is tight.
2. Turn the pump knob counter-clockwise one full turn.
3. Place your thumb over the hole in the pump knob and pump approximately 30-50 strokes until resistance is felt. For optimal brightness, pump until firm resistance is achieved.
4. Turn the pump knob clockwise to lock it in place.

5.2. Lighting the Lantern

1. Open the fuel valve by turning the control knob counter-clockwise one full turn. You should hear a hiss of fuel.
2. Quickly insert a lit match through the lighting hole in the globe and touch it to the mantles. The mantles should ignite.
3. Once lit, adjust the control knob to achieve the desired brightness.

5.3. Shutting Down

To turn off the lantern, turn the control knob clockwise until it is in the "OFF" position. Allow the lantern to cool completely before moving or storing.

6.1. Cleaning

• Regularly wipe down the exterior of the lantern with a damp cloth.
• Clean the glass globe with a soft cloth and glass cleaner when cool.
• Periodically check the fuel cap gasket for wear and replace if necessary to maintain a proper seal.

6.2. Mantle Replacement

Mantles are fragile and will eventually break. Replace them as needed by following the "Installing Mantles" instructions in Section 4.2.

6.3. Storage

Before long-term storage, ensure the lantern is completely cool and empty of fuel. Store in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Consider using a hard carry case for protection during transport and storage.

  • Ensure there is sufficient fuel in the tank.
  • Check if the mantles are properly installed and primed.
  • Verify that the fuel valve is open and the tank is adequately pressurized.
• Dim or flickering light:
  • Pump more pressure into the fuel tank.
  • Check for damaged or worn mantles and replace if necessary.
  • Ensure the fuel is fresh and not contaminated.
• Fuel leakage:
  • Tighten the fuel cap.
  • Inspect the fuel cap gasket for damage and replace if needed.
  • If leakage persists, discontinue use and contact customer support.
