1. Introduction
This manual provides essential information for the safe and effective installation, operation, and maintenance of your CHTAIXI Manual Transfer Switch. Please read this manual thoroughly before installation and keep it for future reference. This device is designed to manually transfer a dual power circuit, offering both overload and short-circuit protection.

2. Safety Information
WARNING: Electrical installation should only be performed by qualified personnel. Always disconnect power before installing or servicing this device to prevent electric shock or injury.
- Ensure the rated voltage and current of the switch match your application requirements.
- The single-side interlock mechanism is a critical safety feature. It prevents simultaneous connection of both power sources.
- Do not attempt to bypass or modify the interlock mechanism.
- Verify all connections are secure and properly insulated after installation.
- This device provides overload and short-circuit protection. However, additional circuit protection may be required depending on local electrical codes.
3. Product Features
- Dual Power Circuit Transfer: Designed for manually switching between two distinct power sources.
- Overload and Short-Circuit Protection: Integrated thermal-magnetic trip unit protects against excessive current and short circuits.
- Single-Side Interlock Mechanism: This crucial safety feature ensures that only one power source can be active at a time. When the right-side breaker is engaged (ON), the left-side breaker's internal trip mechanism is disconnected, preventing it from being turned on simultaneously. To activate the left-side breaker, the right-side breaker must first be manually turned OFF.
- Quality Construction: Features silver alloy contacts to reduce heat generation during arcing and a flame-retardant material shell for enhanced safety.
- Color Indicators: Visual indicators show the ON/OFF status of each circuit.

5. Installation Guide
The CHTAIXI Manual Transfer Switch is designed for 35mm DIN rail mounting. Ensure all power is disconnected before proceeding with installation.
5.1 Mounting on DIN Rail
- Secure the provided 35mm DIN rail to a stable surface using appropriate screws.
- Hook the top edge of the transfer switch onto the top lip of the DIN rail.
- Press the bottom of the switch firmly until it clicks into place on the DIN rail.

5.2 Wiring Diagram
Refer to the diagram below for proper wiring connections. This switch is designed for two 2-pole inputs (Main Power and Auxiliary Power) and a single 2-pole output (Load). Ensure correct polarity (Line 'L' and Neutral 'N') for all connections.

Figure 5.4: Wiring connections for Main Power, Auxiliary Power, and Load.

Figure 5.5: Animated wiring guide.
- Connect your primary power source (e.g., utility grid) to the terminals labeled 'Main Power'.
- Connect your secondary power source (e.g., generator, inverter) to the terminals labeled 'Auxiliary Power'.
- Connect the circuit you wish to power to the terminals labeled 'Load'.
- Use appropriate wire gauges as specified in the 'Reference Wire Size' table (Figure 4.1) and tighten screw clamps to 2.5 N.m.
6. Operation
The CHTAIXI Manual Transfer Switch allows you to safely switch between two power sources for your connected load. The single-side interlock mechanism ensures that only one source can be active at any given time.
- To activate Main Power: Ensure both circuit breaker handles are in the OFF position. Then, push the handle for the 'Main Power' side (typically the left side) to the ON position.
- To activate Auxiliary Power: First, ensure the 'Main Power' handle is in the OFF position. Then, push the handle for the 'Auxiliary Power' side (typically the right side) to the ON position.
- Switching between sources: To switch from one active source to the other, you must first turn OFF the currently active source. The interlock mechanism will prevent the other source from being turned ON until the first is OFF.
- Safety Interlock: If the right-side breaker is ON, attempting to turn on the left-side breaker will fail. You must manually turn off the right-side breaker first to enable the left-side breaker. This prevents dangerous back-feeding or short circuits.
7. Maintenance
The CHTAIXI Manual Transfer Switch is designed for durability and requires minimal maintenance. However, regular checks can ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Periodic Inspection: Annually inspect the switch for any signs of physical damage, discoloration, or loose connections.
- Cleaning: Keep the device clean and free from dust and debris. Use a dry, soft cloth for cleaning. Do not use liquid cleaners or solvents.
- Connection Check: Periodically check the tightness of all wire connections to ensure they remain secure.
- Functionality Test: Occasionally test the switching mechanism to ensure smooth operation and proper interlock functionality.
8. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your manual transfer switch, consider the following common troubleshooting steps:
- No Power to Load:
- Ensure the selected power source (Main or Auxiliary) is active and supplying power.
- Check that the switch handle is fully in the ON position for the desired source.
- Verify all wiring connections are secure and correctly terminated.
- Check for tripped circuit breakers upstream of the transfer switch.
- Cannot Switch Between Sources:
- Ensure the currently active source's handle is fully in the OFF position before attempting to engage the other source. The interlock mechanism prevents both from being ON simultaneously.
- Do not force the handles. If resistance is met, re-verify the OFF position of the other breaker.
- Switch Trips Frequently:
- This indicates an overload or short circuit in the connected load or wiring.
- Disconnect the load and test the switch. If it holds, the issue is with your load or downstream wiring.
- Reduce the load or identify and rectify the short circuit.
If problems persist after following these steps, consult a qualified electrician.
