2. Safety Information
Always adhere to local regulations and safety standards when handling refrigerants. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety glasses, gloves, and protective clothing.
- Ensure the machine is connected to a grounded power outlet.
- Do not operate the machine in explosive atmospheres.
- Avoid direct contact with refrigerants, as they can cause frostbite.
- Verify all connections are secure before starting operation to prevent leaks.
- The unit features an automatic shut-off if internal pressure exceeds 558 psi. If the breaker trips, allow 5 minutes before resetting.
3. Product Overview and Components
The P PBAUTOS RR500 is a 1HP dual-cylinder, oil-less refrigerant recovery machine designed for efficient recovery of various refrigerants. Key components are detailed below:

Figure 2: Detailed view of the RR500's control panel and connection points, including the power switch, gauges, metal knob, intake/outlet ports, and filter drier.
- Power Switch: Controls the machine's power.
- Circuit Breaker: Provides overload protection.
- Low-pressure Input Gauge: Displays input pressure.
- High-pressure Output Gauge: Displays output pressure.
- Metal Knob: Selects operation mode (OFF, RECOVER SLOW, RECOVER FAST, PURGE).
- Intake Port (IN): 1/4" male flare connector for refrigerant input.
- Outlet Port (OUT): 1/4" male flare connector for refrigerant output.
- Filter Drier: Removes moisture and liquid substances; replaceable.
- Connecting Hose: 8" hose with 1/4" SAE female fitting for filter drier connection.
4. Setup
Before operating, ensure the machine is placed on a stable, level surface and connected to a suitable power source (110V-120V, 60Hz).
- Connect the filter drier to the 'IN' port of the recovery machine using the provided connecting hose. Ensure the arrow on the filter drier points towards the machine.
- Connect the manifold gauge set to the system requiring recovery (e.g., automotive AC, HVAC unit).
- Connect the manifold gauge set's yellow hose to the inlet side of the filter drier.
- Connect a recovery tank to the 'OUT' port of the recovery machine. Ensure the recovery tank valve is closed initially.

5. Operating Instructions
5.1. Standard Recovery Method

Figure 3: Connection diagram for standard refrigerant recovery, showing the machine, manifold gauges, and recovery tank.
- Ensure all connections are tight and the recovery tank valve is closed.
- Turn the metal knob on the recovery machine to 'RECOVER SLOW' (position 1).
- Turn on the power switch.
- Slowly open the liquid valve on the manifold gauge set.
- Monitor the low-pressure input gauge. Once it reaches -1 (vacuum), slowly open the vapor valve on the manifold gauge set.
- When the recovery process slows, turn the metal knob to 'RECOVER FAST' (position 2) for quicker recovery.
- Continue monitoring the gauges until the system is fully recovered (low-pressure gauge reads -1).
- Close the recovery tank valve and then turn off the recovery machine.
5.2. Liquid Push/Pull Method (for large liquid refrigerant volumes)

Figure 4: Connection diagram for the liquid push/pull method, recommended for recovering over 10kg of liquid refrigerant.
- Connect the system as shown in Figure 4. Ensure the recovery tank is placed on a scale.
- Open the liquid valve on the recovery tank and the liquid valve on the manifold gauge set.
- Turn the metal knob on the recovery machine to 'RECOVER FAST' (position 2).
- Turn on the power switch.
- Monitor the scale for the amount of liquid recovered.
- Once the majority of liquid is recovered, switch to the standard recovery method to recover remaining vapor.
5.3. Self-Purge Function
The self-purge function cleans residual refrigerants from the recovery kit, preventing cross-contamination and damage.
- After recovery, ensure the recovery tank valve is open.
- Turn the metal knob to 'PURGE' (position 3).
- The machine will automatically clear residual refrigerant. Monitor the low-pressure gauge until it reaches -1 (vacuum).
- Once purged, close the recovery tank valve and turn off the machine.
6. Maintenance
6.1. Filter Drier Replacement
The filter drier should be replaced regularly, especially when recovering different types of refrigerants, to maintain efficiency and prevent contamination.
- Ensure the machine is off and depressurized before replacing the filter.
- Unscrew the old filter drier from the connecting hose and the 'IN' port.
- Install a new filter drier, ensuring the flow arrow points towards the machine's 'IN' port.
6.2. General Cleaning
Keep the exterior of the machine clean and free from debris. Regularly check the air intake and exhaust vents for blockages to ensure proper cooling.
7. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Machine does not start | No power; Circuit breaker tripped | Check power connection; Reset circuit breaker after 5 minutes. |
| Slow recovery speed | Clogged filter drier; Low ambient temperature; Excessive liquid refrigerant | Replace filter drier; Operate in warmer conditions; Use liquid push/pull method for large liquid volumes. |
| Machine shuts off during operation | High pressure overload (above 558 psi); Motor overheating | Check for blockages in the discharge line; Allow machine to cool down; Ensure proper ventilation. |
| Incomplete vacuum after purge | Residual refrigerant; Leaky connections | Repeat purge cycle; Check all connections for tightness. |
