1. Product Overview
The TOSHIBA TY-ANX2 is a versatile CD radio system designed for high-quality audio playback and recording. It features CD, SD card, and USB memory playback, along with AM/FM radio reception. 2. Setup
2.1 Power Connection
- AC Power: Connect the supplied AC power cord to the unit's AC IN jack and then to a standard wall outlet (AC100V 50/60Hz).
- Battery Power: For portable use, insert 6 'C' size batteries (sold separately) into the battery compartment located on the bottom of the unit. Ensure correct polarity.
2.2 Antenna Setup
- FM Antenna: Extend the telescopic FM antenna fully for optimal FM reception. Adjust its direction for the best signal.
- AM Antenna: The unit has a built-in ferrite bar antenna for AM reception. Rotate the unit itself to improve AM reception.
3. Operating Instructions
3.1 CD Player Operation
- Press the CD button to select CD mode.
- Open the CD compartment cover and place a CD (CD-DA, MP3, WMA) with the label side up. Close the cover.
- Press the PLAY/PAUSE button to start playback.
- Use the SKIP buttons (◀◀ / ▶▶) to navigate tracks.
- Press the STOP button to stop playback.
3.2 SD Card / USB Memory Playback and Recording
- Insert an SD card (32MB-32GB) into the SD card slot or a USB memory stick (32MB-32GB) into the USB port.
- Press the SD or USB button to select the desired mode.
- The unit will automatically detect and play MP3/WMA files.
- Recording from Radio: In Radio mode, press the RECORD button to start recording the current radio broadcast to the inserted SD card or USB memory. Press STOP to end recording.

3.3 Radio Operation (AM/FM/Wide FM)
- Press the RADIO button to select radio mode. Press again to cycle between FM and AM bands.
- Use the TUNING buttons to manually tune to a station or press and hold to auto-scan.
- Preset Stations: To store a station, tune to the desired frequency, then press and hold a preset number button (1-5) until the display flashes. To recall, simply press the preset number button.
- Wide FM: The unit supports Wide FM (76.0-108.0MHz), allowing reception of FM broadcasts that extend beyond the traditional FM band.
- Timer Recording: Set a timer to automatically record a radio program to SD or USB. Refer to the detailed timer settings in the full manual.

3.4 Bluetooth Functionality (Send/Receive)
- Receiving Audio (from smartphone):
a. Press the Bluetooth button on the unit.
b. On your smartphone or other Bluetooth device, search for 'TY-ANX2' and pair.
c. Once connected, audio from your device will play through the TY-ANX2 speakers. - Transmitting Audio (to Bluetooth headphones/speakers):
a. Select the desired audio source (CD, SD, USB, Radio) on the TY-ANX2.
b. Press and hold the Bluetooth button until the Bluetooth indicator flashes rapidly.
c. Put your Bluetooth headphones or speaker into pairing mode.
d. The TY-ANX2 will automatically connect to the nearest discoverable Bluetooth audio device. Audio from the TY-ANX2 will then be transmitted to your external Bluetooth device.

3.5 Sound Modes
The TY-ANX2 offers four sound modes to optimize your listening experience:
- FLAT: Provides a neutral sound profile, ideal for news or language learning.
- ROCK: Enhances bass and treble for a dynamic rock music experience.
- JAZZ: Offers a warmer, smoother sound, suitable for jazz music.
- CLASSIC: Delivers a balanced sound with emphasis on orchestral clarity.
Press the SOUND MODE button to cycle through these options.

3.6 Language Learning Functions
The unit includes features beneficial for language study:
- A-B Repeat: Allows you to repeatedly play a specific section of audio.
- Speed Control: Adjust playback speed in 11 levels, useful for practicing pronunciation or understanding fast speech.
3.7 Sleep Timer
The sleep timer automatically turns off the unit after a set period. Press the SLEEP button repeatedly to cycle through available timer settings (e.g., 15, 30, 60, 90 minutes, OFF).
4. Maintenance
4.1 Cleaning the Unit
- Wipe the exterior of the unit with a soft, dry cloth.
- For stubborn dirt, use a cloth lightly dampened with a mild detergent solution, then wipe dry.
- Do not use abrasive cleaners, benzene, or alcohol, as these can damage the surface.
4.2 CD Lens Care
- If the CD lens becomes dirty, use a commercially available CD lens cleaner.
- Avoid touching the lens directly with your fingers.
