1. Introduction

Thank you for choosing the Westods Portable Smart Screen. This device integrates wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 2.5K dash camera, and a 1080P backup camera into a portable 7-inch HD IPS display. It is designed to enhance your driving experience with navigation, entertainment, and safety features. This manual provides detailed instructions for setup, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

4. Setup Guide

The Westods Portable Smart Screen is designed for easy, plug-and-play installation without requiring complex vehicle modifications.

4.1 Mounting the Head Unit

The unit offers two primary mounting methods:

  1. Suction Cup Bracket: Attach the suction cup bracket to a clean, smooth surface on your windshield or dashboard. Adjust the telescopic arm and angle for optimal viewing.
  2. Dashboard Mounting (Adhesive Bracket): Use the provided snap gasket and adhesive bracket for a more permanent dashboard installation. Ensure the surface is clean and dry before applying the adhesive.

4.2 Connecting Power and Cameras

  1. Power Connection: Connect the power cord with the USB port to your vehicle's 12V power outlet (cigarette lighter socket).
  2. Front Camera: The front 2.5K dash camera is integrated into the head unit.
  3. Backup Camera Installation: Mount the 1080P backup camera at the rear of your vehicle. Connect the camera extension cord from the backup camera to the 'R-CAM' port on the head unit. For automatic display when reversing, connect the red wire of the backup camera cable to your vehicle's reverse light anode.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Powering On/Off

The unit will power on automatically when your vehicle's ignition is turned on and power is supplied. To manually power off, press and hold the power button on the side of the unit.

5.2 Wireless CarPlay / Android Auto Connection

To connect your smartphone wirelessly:

  1. On the Smart Screen, click the Apple CarPlay or Android Auto widget.
  2. Enable Bluetooth on your smartphone and search for the Smart Screen's Bluetooth name (e.g., "SmartScreen_XXXX"). Pair your phone.
  3. Once paired, a prompt will appear on your phone. Select "Use CarPlay" or "Use Android Auto" to establish the connection.

Tips: The first connection may take longer. Only one phone can be connected at a time. After successful connection, Bluetooth may disconnect automatically as the system switches to Wi-Fi for data transfer.

5.3 Dash Cam (DVR) Operation

The integrated dash cam automatically begins recording when the unit powers on. Footage is saved to the included 64GB TF card.

  • Loop Recording: The system continuously records, overwriting the oldest files when the storage is full.
  • Locked Video: In case of a sudden impact or collision, the G-sensor will automatically lock the current video segment to prevent it from being overwritten.
  • Playback: Access recorded videos through the 'Playback' option on the main menu.

5.4 Audio Output Selection

You can output audio from the Smart Screen to your car's speakers using several methods:

  • FM Transmit: Select an unused FM frequency on the Smart Screen and tune your car's FM radio to the same frequency.
  • Bluetooth Transmit: For CarPlay/Android Auto, audio is transmitted via Bluetooth to your car's audio system if connected.
  • AUX Output: Connect the provided AUX cable from the Smart Screen's AUX port to your car's AUX input.
  • Built-in Speaker: The unit has an internal speaker for basic audio output.

5.5 Screen Mirroring (AirPlay/MirrorCast)

The device supports screen mirroring from your smartphone:

  • Apple AirPlay: For iOS devices, select AirPlay on the Smart Screen and follow the prompts on your iPhone/iPad to mirror your screen.
  • Android Cast: For Android devices, select Android Cast and use your phone's casting feature to mirror the display.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the screen and unit. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • SD Card Management: Periodically back up important footage from the 64GB TF card to a computer. Format the card regularly (e.g., monthly) to maintain optimal recording performance.
  • Temperature: Avoid exposing the unit to extreme temperatures for prolonged periods.

7. Troubleshooting
