Introduction

The Polaroid Now 2nd Generation I-Type Instant Film Camera is designed to capture and preserve your everyday moments in the iconic Polaroid style. This analog instant camera features a dual-lens autofocus system and an accurate flash for optimal results. Constructed with 40% recycled materials, it includes a built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery that charges via USB-C. Setup

1. Charging the Camera

Your Polaroid Now camera comes with a built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery. Before first use, ensure the camera is fully charged.

  • Connect the supplied USB-C charging cable to the camera's USB-C port.
  • Connect the other end of the cable to a USB power adapter (not included) or a computer's USB port.
  • The battery level indicator LED will show charging status. A full charge allows for approximately 15 film packs.

2. Loading Film

The Polaroid Now camera is compatible with Polaroid i-Type and 600 film. Film is sold separately.

  1. Press the film door latch on the side of the camera to open the film compartment.
  2. Insert a new film pack into the compartment with the darkslide facing up. Ensure the film pack is pushed all the way in.
  3. Close the film door. The darkslide will automatically eject. Do not pull the darkslide out manually.
  4. The film counter display on the back of the camera will show the number of remaining exposures.

Operating the Camera

1. Taking a Photo

The Polaroid Now features a dual-lens autofocus system for clear photos.

  • Turn on the camera by pressing the power button.
  • Look through the viewfinder to frame your shot.
  • Press the red shutter button to take a picture. The photo will eject from the front slot.

2. Flash Control

The camera has an accurate flash for various lighting conditions.

  • By default, the flash is on.
  • Press the flash button (lightning bolt icon) on the back of the camera to toggle the flash on or off.
  • It is recommended to use the flash in most indoor or low-light situations for best results.

3. Self-Timer Mode

Use the self-timer to include yourself in the picture or for stable shots.

  • Press the self-timer button (stopwatch icon) on the front of the camera. The LED next to the button will light up.
  • Frame your shot and press the shutter button. The camera will take a photo after a short delay (approximately 9 seconds).

4. Double Exposure Mode

Create unique artistic effects by combining two images into one.

  • Press the double exposure button (two overlapping squares icon) on the front of the camera. The LED will blink.
  • Take your first photo. The LED will remain lit.
  • Take your second photo. The two images will be combined onto a single film sheet.

Maintenance

1. Cleaning the Camera

  • Regularly clean the film rollers to ensure optimal image quality. Open the film door and gently wipe the rollers with a soft, damp cloth.
  • Use a microfiber cloth to clean the lens and viewfinder. Do not use abrasive cleaners.
  • Keep the camera free from dust and debris.

2. Film Storage

  • Store film chilled in the fridge (not freezer) for best results, especially if not using within 6 months.
  • Allow film to reach room temperature before use.

Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible Cause / Solution
Photo is too dark or underexposed.
  • Ensure flash is enabled, especially in low-light conditions.
  • Shoot in bright, well-lit environments.
  • Make sure the subject is within flash range.
Photo is blurry.
  • Hold the camera steady when pressing the shutter button.
  • Ensure the subject is within the camera's focus range.
  • Clean the lens if it appears smudged.
Film does not eject.
  • Check if the film pack is correctly inserted.
  • Ensure there is film remaining in the pack (check film counter).
  • Battery might be low; charge the camera.
Photos develop with streaks or marks.
  • Clean the film rollers inside the film compartment.
  • Ensure film is stored correctly and not expired.
Photo does not develop properly.
  • Immediately shield the ejected photo from light by placing it face down or in a dark place for the first 15 minutes of development.
  • Ensure the ambient temperature is suitable for film development (ideally 55-82°F / 13-28°C).
