5. Installation Instructions

Before beginning installation, ensure the power supply is turned OFF at the circuit breaker to prevent electric shock.

  1. Prepare Mounting Surface: The fixture is designed for surface mounting via an easy-connect back plate that fits most standard junction boxes. A universal K/O pattern is provided on the back plate for wall mounting.
  2. Mount the Back Plate: Secure the back plate to the desired wall or junction box using the provided screws and accessories. Ensure the mounting is stable and level.
  3. Wiring Connections: Connect the AC power wires (120V-277V) to the fixture's wiring according to local electrical codes. Ensure proper grounding.
  4. Connect Battery: Connect the internal battery wires to the fixture's circuit board. Refer to the internal wiring diagram if necessary.
  5. Attach Fixture to Back Plate: Carefully align the main fixture body with the mounted back plate. Ensure the back cover clips align with the slots to prevent damage to the test button. Secure the fixture to the back plate.
  6. Restore Power: Once the installation is complete and all connections are secure, restore power at the circuit breaker. The unit will automatically initiate a self-test and self-diagnostic test.

6. Operating Instructions

The SASELUX SL45BR LED Emergency Wall Pack Light offers versatile operation modes.

6.1. Photocell and Wall Switch Operation

The light can be controlled via a wall switch or its integrated photocell sensor. It can function as a normally-on or normally-off light, or on a switched circuit.

  • Dusk-to-Dawn (Photocell): The integrated photocell sensor automatically turns the light on when it gets dark and off when it gets light.
  • Wall Switch Control: When connected to a switched circuit, the light can be manually turned on or off using a standard wall switch.

6.2. Emergency Operation

Regardless of the primary mode of operation, the emergency LED lights will illuminate from battery power upon loss of normal AC power. The built-in 4.8V 1800mAh Nickel Cadmium backup battery provides over 90 minutes of emergency operation.

7. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity of your SASELUX emergency wall pack light.

7.1. Self-Diagnostic Feature

The fixture includes a Guardian Self-Diagnostic feature that continuously monitors performance and automatically tests the system. This includes an automatic battery discharge test once every month (for one minute) and once every 6 months (for thirty minutes) to ensure reliable operation and compliance with electrical and life safety codes.

7.2. Manual Test Button

A test button is provided on the fixture. Pressing this button will simulate a power outage, allowing you to manually verify that the emergency lighting function and battery backup are working correctly.
