2. Safety Information
Always prioritize safety when installing and operating your CB radio. Failure to follow these guidelines may result in injury or damage to the equipment.
- Power Supply: Ensure the radio is connected to a 12V or 24V DC power source as specified. Incorrect voltage can damage the unit.
- Antenna: Never operate the radio without a properly connected antenna. Transmitting without an antenna can cause damage to the radio's final amplifier.
- Installation: Mount the radio securely to prevent it from becoming a projectile during sudden stops or accidents. Ensure wiring does not interfere with vehicle controls.
- Driving Safety: Do not operate the radio in a way that distracts you from driving. Always prioritize road safety.
- Water Exposure: This device is not water resistant. Avoid exposure to moisture or liquids.

3.2. Mounting the Radio
Choose a suitable location in your vehicle that allows for easy access to controls and clear visibility of the display, without obstructing driving. Use the provided mounting cradle and screws to securely attach the radio.
3.3. Power Connection
Connect the fused power cord to your vehicle's 12V or 24V DC electrical system. Ensure the red wire connects to the positive (+) terminal and the black wire to the negative (-) or ground terminal. The radio is designed to operate on both 12V and 24V systems.
3.4. Antenna Connection
Connect a suitable CB antenna (not included) to the antenna connector on the rear of the radio. A properly tuned antenna is crucial for optimal performance and to prevent damage to the radio. Refer to your antenna's manual for installation and tuning instructions.
3.5. Microphone Connection
Plug the supplied Electret UP/DOWN Microphone into the front microphone port of the radio. Ensure it clicks securely into place.

4. Operating Instructions
4.1. Basic Controls
- Power ON/OFF & Volume: Rotate the VOL/SQ knob clockwise to turn the radio ON and adjust the listening volume.
- Squelch (SQ): Rotate the VOL/SQ knob counter-clockwise to reduce background noise when no signal is present. Adjust until the noise disappears.
- Channel Selector: Use the UP/DOWN buttons on the microphone or the channel rotary switch on the radio to select channels 1-40.
4.2. AM/FM Modulation
The Harrison FCC supports both AM (Amplitude Modulation) and FM (Frequency Modulation) modes. Use the MODE button to switch between AM and FM for different communication preferences or local regulations.
4.3. CTCSS/DCS
CTCSS (Continuous Tone-Coded Squelch System) and DCS (Digitally Coded Squelch) allow you to filter out unwanted conversations and hear only signals from users sharing the same code. This feature is particularly useful for group communications.
4.4. Scan Skip
The Scan Skip feature allows you to efficiently monitor channels. When the radio is scanning and stops on an unwanted channel, press and hold the SCAN key for 1 second to store this channel in the SCAN SKIP memory. This channel will then be ignored in subsequent scans, allowing you to focus on relevant communications.
4.5. PA (Public Address)
Connect an external PA speaker (not included) to the radio to use it as a public address system. This allows your voice to be broadcast through the external speaker.
4.6. Roger Beep
The Roger Beep function emits a short tone at the end of your transmission, signaling to other users that you have finished speaking.
4.7. USB Charging Socket
The front-facing USB charging socket (5V / 2.1A) allows for convenient charging of various electronic devices, such as smartphones or tablets.
4.8. Automatic S.W.R. Meter
The integrated Automatic S.W.R. (Standing Wave Ratio) Meter assists in tuning your antenna for optimal performance. The radio provides audible tones and a display reading to guide you in achieving an SWR close to 1.0, indicating an efficient antenna match.
4.9. Noise Reduction Circuit (NRC)
The NRC (Noise Reduction Circuit) helps to reduce background noise during both transmission (TX) and reception (RX), providing clearer communication. If your radio does not have an inbuilt NRC, compatible President DIGIMIKE or BT MIKE microphones with 5 levels of noise cancellation can be used as an alternative.
5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your President Harrison FCC CB Radio.
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the radio's exterior. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Connections: Periodically check all cable connections (power, antenna, microphone) for tightness and corrosion.
- Antenna: Inspect your antenna regularly for damage. Ensure it is properly tuned for the best SWR.
- Fuse: If the radio does not power on, check the fuse in the power cord. Replace it with a fuse of the same rating if blown.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your radio, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
- No Power: Check the power cable connection, vehicle's fuse box, and the fuse in the radio's power cord. Ensure the vehicle's ignition is on if connected to an accessory circuit.
- No Reception/Transmission: Verify the antenna is correctly connected and tuned. Check the Squelch level; it might be set too high. Ensure the correct channel and modulation mode (AM/FM) are selected.
- Poor Audio Quality: Adjust the RF Gain and Mic Gain settings. Check for strong interference sources. Ensure the microphone is securely connected.
- SWR Reading is High: This indicates a problem with your antenna system. Check antenna connections, cable, and tuning. Consult an antenna specialist if needed.
- Radio Freezes/Unresponsive: Try turning the radio off and then on again. If the issue persists, disconnect power for a few minutes and reconnect.
