3. Operating Your Roomba with New Parts
Once the replacement parts are correctly installed, your iRobot Roomba will operate as usual. The new components are designed to restore or enhance the vacuum's cleaning performance. No special operating procedures are required beyond your Roomba's standard usage.
4. Maintenance
Regular cleaning and timely replacement of these parts are crucial for maintaining your Roomba's optimal performance and preventing damage to the unit.
- Side Brushes: Inspect regularly for tangled hair or debris. Clean as needed. Replace every 2-3 months, or sooner if visibly worn or damaged.
- HEPA Filters: Tap the filter against a trash can to remove loose debris after each cleaning cycle. Do not wash filters. Replace every 3-6 months, or more frequently if you have pets or allergies.
- Multi-Surface Rubber Brushes (Debris Extractors): Remove hair and debris from the brushes and their bearings regularly. Replace every 2-3 months, or when cleaning performance noticeably decreases.

5. Troubleshooting
If your Roomba exhibits reduced cleaning performance or unusual noises after replacing parts, consider the following:
- Reduced Suction/Cleaning: Ensure filters are clean and correctly installed. Check multi-surface brushes for any remaining debris or tangles. Verify that the dust bin is empty and properly seated.
- Unusual Noises: Inspect all brushes and wheels for hair or debris that might be causing obstruction. Ensure all parts are securely installed and not loose.
- Filter-Related Issues: Some users have reported that certain aftermarket filters with additional mesh screens can sometimes impede airflow or cause the Roomba to complain. If you experience such issues, try carefully removing any non-original mesh screens from the filter to see if performance improves.
