4. Product Overview
4.1 SN-2546B Solar Crimper

Figure 4.1: Detailed view of the SN-2546B Solar Crimper.
The SN-2546B crimper is designed for precise crimping of solar connector pins. Key features include:
- High Precision Jaw: Engineered for tighter crimping, ensuring secure and reliable electrical connections.
- Release Device: Allows adjustment of crimping force. Moving in the "+" direction increases force, while "-" decreases it.
- Ergonomic Handle: Constructed from PP hard and TPR soft material for comfortable and secure grip during prolonged use.
- Crimping Range: 14-10 AWG (American Wire Gauge) / 0.5-6 mm² (square millimeters).
4.2 SD-212 Wire Stripper/Cutter

Figure 4.2: Detailed view of the SD-212 Wire Stripper/Cutter.
The SD-212 is a versatile tool for stripping insulation from wires and cutting wires. Key features include:
- High Precision Jaw: Made from high hardness steel to ensure quality and clean wire stripping.
- Safety Lock: Prevents the wire strippers from accidentally opening when not in use, enhancing safety.
- Ergonomic Handle: Made with PP hard and TPR soft material for improved comfort and reduced hand fatigue.
- Stripping Range: 22-10 AWG / 1.00-6.00 mm².
5. Operating Instructions
Follow these steps for preparing wires and assembling solar connectors:

Figure 5.1: Step-by-step operation for solar connector assembly.
- Prepare Wire: Carefully insert the wire into the SD-212 wire stripper, ensuring the correct gauge setting is selected for your wire size.
- Strip Insulation: Squeeze the stripper handles firmly to remove the wire insulation, exposing the conductor. Ensure a clean, even strip without damaging the wire strands.
- Insert into Terminal: Place the stripped wire into the appropriate crimp terminal (male or female pin). Ensure all wire strands are inside the terminal barrel.
- Crimp Terminal: Insert the terminal with the wire into the SN-2546B crimping tool's jaw. Squeeze the handles firmly until the ratchet mechanism releases, indicating a complete and secure crimp.
- Assemble Male Connector: Insert the crimped male pin into the male solar connector housing. Ensure it clicks into place. Use the solar connector spanner to tighten the gland nut if applicable, securing the cable.
- Assemble Female Connector: Insert the crimped female pin into the female solar connector housing. Ensure it clicks into place. Use the solar connector spanner to tighten the gland nut if applicable, securing the cable.
- Verify Assembly: Visually inspect both male and female connectors to ensure they are correctly assembled with their respective crimped pins and wires. Gently tug on the wire to confirm the crimp is secure.
- Connect: Align the male and female solar connectors and push them together firmly until they click securely into place.
- Final Connection: Confirm the connection is tight and secure.
6. Maintenance
Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and performance of your tools:
- Cleaning: After each use, wipe down the tools with a clean, dry cloth to remove any dirt, dust, or debris. For stubborn grime, a mild solvent can be used, ensuring it does not damage plastic or rubber components.
- Lubrication: Periodically apply a light coat of machine oil to the pivot points and moving parts of the crimper and stripper to ensure smooth operation and prevent rust.
- Storage: Store the tools in the provided storage pouch in a dry, cool place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. This prevents corrosion and protects the tools from damage.
- Inspection: Regularly inspect the jaws of both tools for wear, damage, or misalignment. Ensure the safety lock on the stripper functions correctly.
7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your tools, consider the following common solutions:
- Poor Crimp Quality: Ensure you are using the correct crimp terminal and wire gauge for the crimper. Verify the wire is fully inserted into the terminal before crimping. Adjust the crimping force using the release device if necessary.
- Wire Not Stripping Cleanly: Check that the correct wire gauge setting is selected on the stripper. Ensure the blades are clean and free from debris. If blades appear dull or damaged, consider replacement or professional sharpening if possible.
- Tools Sticking/Stiff Operation: Apply a small amount of lubricant to the pivot points and moving parts. Clean any accumulated dirt or grime.
- Connectors Not Locking: Ensure the crimped pins are fully inserted into the connector housings until they click. Check for any debris or misalignment preventing proper connection.
