2. Safety Instructions

Always observe basic safety precautions when using electric tools to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and personal injury.

General Power Tool Safety Warnings:

  • Work Area Safety: Keep your work area clean and well-lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents. Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases, or dust.
  • Electrical Safety: Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces such as pipes, radiators, ranges, and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded.
  • Personal Safety: Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety goggles, gloves, and hearing protection. Use a dust mask if operations create dust. Dress properly; avoid loose clothing or jewelry that can get caught in moving parts.
  • Tool Use and Care: Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. Disconnect the plug from the power source and/or the battery pack from the power tool before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power tools.
  • Battery Tool Use and Care: Recharge only with the charger specified by the manufacturer. Use power tools only with specifically designated battery packs.

Angle Grinder Specific Safety Warnings:

  • Always ensure the protective cover is securely in place before operation to prevent sparks and metal chips from splashing.
  • Use only grinding wheels and cutting discs that are rated for the maximum RPM of the grinder (10000 RPM).
  • Secure the workpiece. A workpiece clamped by clamping devices or in a vise is held more secure than by hand.
  • Be aware of kickback. Kickback is a sudden reaction to a pinched or snagged rotating wheel. Always maintain a firm grip on the tool.
  • Do not use the angle grinder without the side handle attached. The side handle provides additional control and safety.
  • Allow the tool to reach full speed before applying it to the workpiece.
