- The device is factory calibrated, but re-calibration is recommended for first use or after prolonged storage.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Power On/Off
- Press the ON/OFF button to turn the tester on.
- Press the ON/OFF button again to turn the tester off. The device also features automatic power-off after 5 minutes of inactivity.
5.2 Taking Measurements (pH, TDS, Temperature)
- Turn on the tester.
- Immerse the electrode into the sample solution, ensuring the liquid level is below the cap.
- Gently stir the solution and wait for the reading to stabilize (usually a few seconds).
- The display will show the pH/TDS value and temperature simultaneously.

Image 5.1: The tester displaying dual data for pH, TDS, and Temperature, along with their respective measuring ranges, resolutions, and accuracies. For example, pH range is 0-14.00 pH with 0.01 pH resolution, and TDS range is 1-9999 ppm with 1 ppm resolution.
5.3 Switching Modes (pH/TDS)
- Press the MODE/CAL button to switch between pH and TDS measurement modes. The active mode will be indicated on the display.
5.4 Data Hold Function
- While taking a measurement, press the HOLD/TEMP button to lock the current reading on the display.
- Press the HOLD/TEMP button again to release the hold and resume live measurement.
5.5 Temperature Unit Switching (℃/℉)
- Long press the HOLD/TEMP button to switch the temperature unit between Celsius (℃) and Fahrenheit (℉).
6. Calibration
Regular calibration ensures the accuracy of your pH measurements. The tester supports 3-point automatic calibration.
6.1 pH Calibration Procedure
- Prepare three buffer solutions: pH 4.00, pH 6.86, and pH 9.18. Ensure the buffer powders are dissolved in 250ml of distilled water each.
- Turn on the tester and switch to pH mode.
- Rinse the electrode with distilled water and immerse it into the pH 6.86 buffer solution.
- Long press the MODE/CAL button for 6 seconds until the display shows "CAL" and starts flashing. Release the button.
- The tester will automatically recognize the buffer solution and calibrate. Wait for the reading to stabilize and stop flashing.
- Rinse the electrode with distilled water.
- Repeat steps 3-5 for pH 4.00 buffer solution.
- Rinse the electrode with distilled water.
- Repeat steps 3-5 for pH 9.18 buffer solution.
- After successful calibration, the tester will automatically exit calibration mode.

Image 6.1: Visual guide for the three-point pH calibration process using pH 4.00, pH 6.86, and pH 9.18 buffer solutions. It shows the tester immersed in each solution and the display indicating successful calibration.
Note: If the tester cannot identify the buffer solution, ensure the buffer solution is correct and the electrode is clean. Re-calibration may be needed if the device has been unused for a long time or after frequent use.
7. Maintenance
7.1 Cleaning the Electrode
- After each use, rinse the electrode thoroughly with distilled water to remove any residue.
- Gently blot dry with a clean, soft tissue. Do not wipe or rub the electrode, as this can damage the sensitive glass bulb.
7.2 Storage
- Always replace the protective cap after use to keep the electrode moist. If the electrode dries out, soak it in pH 4.00 buffer solution for 30 minutes before use.
- Store the tester in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
7.3 Probe Replacement
- If the probe becomes damaged or its performance degrades significantly, it can be replaced.
- Unscrew the bottom part of the tester to detach the old probe.
- Attach a new, compatible probe and screw it securely into place.
- After replacing the probe, re-calibrate the device.
8. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Inaccurate readings | Uncalibrated device, dirty electrode, dried-out electrode, low battery. | Calibrate the device, clean the electrode, soak the electrode in pH 4.00 buffer, replace batteries. |
| Display shows "Err" during calibration | Incorrect buffer solution, electrode not immersed properly, damaged electrode. | Ensure correct buffer solution, fully immerse electrode, replace electrode if damaged. |
| Device does not turn on | Dead batteries, incorrect battery installation. | Replace batteries, check battery polarity. |
| Slow response time | Dirty or aged electrode. | Clean the electrode, consider replacing the probe if cleaning does not improve performance. |
