1. Introduction
The Elation Lighting Obsidian NX-P is a motorized fader wing designed to expand the control capabilities of ONYX lighting systems. It serves as an ideal companion for the NX1 console and ONYX PC systems, replicating the full playback section found on the NX1 console.
This device offers direct connectivity to your lighting system via four integrated DMX ports. Multiple NX-P wings can be connected to any ONYX console or PC system, providing expanded direct access with 20 playbacks simultaneously. The flexible button array can be configured for playback control or as powerful function keys.
The NX-P maintains the layout and functionality of the NX1 and NX4 console surfaces, ensuring seamless and intuitive operation. It features a magnetic alignment system for easy attachment to an NX1 console or NX K command pad. As part of the ONYX platform, this keypad and playback wing is compatible with all other NX devices and ONYX PC systems.

- To power off, flip the Mains ON/OFF switch to the OFF position. Always power down the NX-P before disconnecting power or USB cables.
5.2 ONYX Software Integration
The NX-P operates as a dedicated control surface for the ONYX lighting control software. All fader and button assignments, playback configurations, and system settings are managed within the ONYX software interface. Refer to the ONYX software manual for detailed instructions on:
- Mapping faders to control specific lighting parameters or playbacks.
- Assigning functions to the 4 buttons per fader.
- Configuring the 10 customizable playback or multi-function keys.
- Utilizing the Master Go section (Go, Pause, Snap, Release) for cue control.

- Implementing MIDI/OSC/Timecode functionalities enabled by the Nova+ License.
5.3 Using Motorized Faders
The 60mm motorized faders provide tactile control and will automatically adjust to reflect the current values within the ONYX software. This ensures that the physical fader position always matches the software's state, especially when switching between playbacks or pages.
5.4 Playback and Function Keys
The NX-P replicates the playback section of larger ONYX consoles. Use the Playback Select button to navigate between different playback pages or banks. The customizable keys can be assigned to trigger cues, execute macros, or perform other software functions as configured in ONYX.
6. Maintenance
6.1 Cleaning
To maintain the appearance and functionality of your NX-P, regularly clean the exterior with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, a slightly damp cloth with mild soap can be used, followed by drying. Avoid using harsh chemicals, abrasives, or solvents, as these can damage the finish and internal components.
Keep the fader tracks free of dust and debris. Compressed air can be used carefully to dislodge particles from around the faders and buttons.
6.2 Fuse Replacement
If the unit fails to power on, check the fuse located in the Fuse P1 compartment on the rear panel. Disconnect the unit from mains power before attempting to replace the fuse. Use only a fuse of the exact type and rating specified on the compliance label next to the fuse holder.
