6. Operating Instructions

Operating your TESGO e-bike involves understanding its power modes and controls.

6.1 Powering On/Off

  • To power on the bike, press and hold the power button on the LCD display.
  • To power off, press and hold the power button again until the display turns off.

6.2 Riding Modes

The TESGO e-bike offers three riding modes:

  1. Pedal Assist Mode (PAS): The motor provides assistance as you pedal. Use the '+' and '-' buttons on the display to adjust the assist level (1-5). Higher levels provide more power.
  2. Throttle Mode: Engage the throttle (typically on the right handlebar) to propel the bike without pedaling. This mode provides full motor power up to the maximum speed.
  3. Manual Pedal Mode: Ride the bike like a traditional bicycle with no motor assistance. Use the Shimano 8-speed gears for varying terrain.

6.3 Gear Shifting

Use the Shimano 8-speed shifter on the right handlebar to change gears. Shift to a lower gear for climbing hills and a higher gear for flat terrain or downhill riding. Shift smoothly and avoid shifting under heavy load.

6.4 Braking

The bike is equipped with hydraulic disc brakes. Apply both front and rear brakes simultaneously for controlled stopping. Practice braking in a safe area to familiarize yourself with their response.

7. Battery Management

7.1 Charging the Battery

  • Ensure the bike is turned off before charging.
  • The battery can be charged while installed on the bike or removed. To remove, unlock it with the key and slide it out.
  • Connect the charger to the battery's charging port, then plug the charger into a standard wall outlet.
  • The charger indicator light will typically be red during charging and turn green when fully charged.
  • Do not overcharge the battery. Disconnect the charger once fully charged.
  • Charge in a dry, well-ventilated area, away from flammable materials.

7.2 Battery Care and Storage

  • Avoid completely draining the battery. Recharge it regularly, especially after long rides.
  • If storing the bike for an extended period, charge the battery to 50-70% and store it in a cool, dry place. Recharge every 1-2 months to prevent deep discharge.
  • Keep the battery away from extreme temperatures.
  • The battery is waterproof, but avoid submerging it in water.

8. Folding Mechanism

The TESGO e-bike features a folding frame for convenient storage and transport.

  1. Prepare for Folding: Ensure the bike is powered off. Lower the seat post to its lowest position.
  2. Fold the Handlebar Stem: Locate the quick-release lever on the handlebar stem. Open the lever, fold the stem downwards, and secure the latch.
  3. Fold the Frame: Locate the main folding latch on the bike's frame. Open the safety catch, then open the main latch. Carefully fold the front half of the bike towards the rear.
  4. Secure: Ensure all folding mechanisms are securely latched to prevent accidental unfolding.
  5. Unfolding: Reverse the steps, ensuring all latches and quick-releases are fully secured before riding.

9. Maintenance

Regular maintenance is crucial for the safety and performance of your e-bike.

  • Tire Pressure: Check tire pressure before each ride. Maintain pressure as indicated on the tire sidewall.
  • Brakes: Regularly inspect brake pads for wear and ensure brake levers provide firm, responsive stopping power. Adjust or replace as needed.
  • Chain: Keep the chain clean and lubricated to ensure smooth shifting and prevent wear.
  • Fasteners: Periodically check all bolts, nuts, and quick-release levers for tightness.
  • Cleaning: Clean the bike with a damp cloth. Avoid using high-pressure washers directly on electrical components.
  • Professional Service: For complex issues or annual tune-ups, consult a professional bicycle mechanic.
