Setup: Battery Installation

The BLACK+DECKER Matrix Jr. Power Drill requires 2 AA batteries for operation. Batteries are included but may need to be replaced for optimal performance.

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the underside of the drill handle.
  2. Using a Phillips head screwdriver (not included), unscrew the screw securing the battery compartment cover.
  3. Remove the cover.
  4. Insert 2 new AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
  5. Replace the battery compartment cover and secure it with the screw. Do not overtighten.

Important Battery Information:

  • Always use fresh batteries of the same type.
  • Do not mix alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc), or rechargeable (nickel-cadmium) batteries.
  • Remove exhausted batteries promptly.
  • Remove batteries if the toy will not be used for an extended period.
  • Non-rechargeable batteries are not to be recharged.
  • Rechargeable batteries are only to be charged under adult supervision.
  • The supply terminals are not to be short-circuited.

Operating Instructions

Attaching and Removing Drill Bits/Attachments

The Matrix Jr. Power Drill features a Quick Connect System for interchangeable attachments.

  1. To attach a drill bit or the jigsaw head, align the attachment with the front of the drill body.
  2. Push the attachment firmly into place until it clicks securely.
  3. To remove an attachment, pull it straight out from the drill body.

Forward and Reverse Drilling Action

The drill features realistic forward and reverse drilling action.

  • To activate the drill, press the trigger located on the handle.
  • To switch between forward and reverse, locate the directional switch above the trigger. Push it to the left for forward rotation and to the right for reverse rotation.

LED Light Function

The drill is equipped with an LED light, similar to a real power drill, to enhance play experience.

  • The LED light activates automatically when the trigger is pressed, illuminating the area in front of the drill bit.
