Step-by-Step Setup (Repeater Mode):

  1. Power On: Plug the HIMALU WiFi Extender into a power outlet. Wait for the LED indicators (Power, WiFi, LAN) to light up, indicating it's ready.
  2. Connect to Extender's Network: On your computer or smartphone, go to your Wi-Fi settings. Look for a network named "PIX-LINK-2.4G" or "PIX-LINK-5.8G" (or similar, check the label on the extender). Connect to this network. The default password is usually 12345678.
  3. Access Web Interface: Open a web browser and enter http://setup.pix-link.net in the address bar.
  4. Login: Enter the default admin password (usually admin) to log in.
  5. Select Repeater Mode: On the setup page, select "Repeater Mode". The extender will scan for available Wi-Fi networks.
  6. Choose Your Network: From the scanned list, select your main home Wi-Fi network (SSID).
  7. Enter Main Wi-Fi Password: Input the password for your main home Wi-Fi network.
  8. Configure Extender's Network (Optional): You can choose to keep the default extended network name (e.g., `YOUR_WIFI_NAME-EXT`) or set a new name and password for the extended network.
  9. Apply Settings: Click "Apply" or "Save" to complete the setup. The extender will restart.
  10. Reconnect: Once the extender restarts, reconnect your devices to the newly created extended Wi-Fi network.

Operating Modes

1. Repeater Mode:

Expands the wireless range of your existing Wi-Fi network. This mode is ideal for extending coverage to areas with weak signals, allowing wireless devices to connect to the extended network.

Maintenance

  • Regular Reboots: Periodically reboot the extender (unplug and plug back in) to clear its memory and ensure optimal performance.
  • Optimal Placement: Ensure the extender is placed in an open area, away from obstructions like thick walls, large metal objects, or other electronic devices that may cause interference.
  • Firmware Updates: Check the manufacturer's website periodically for firmware updates. Keeping the firmware updated can improve performance, stability, and security.
  • Cleanliness: Keep the device clean and free from dust to prevent overheating and maintain proper ventilation.

Troubleshooting

Common Issues & Solutions:

  • No Internet Connection:
    • Ensure your main router has an active internet connection.
    • Verify the extender is properly configured and connected to your main Wi-Fi network.
    • Try moving the extender closer to your main router during setup.
  • Weak Signal from Extender:
    • Relocate the extender to a position halfway between your router and the Wi-Fi dead zone.
    • Adjust the extender's antennas for better signal reception.
    • Minimize physical obstructions between the extender and your devices.
  • Frequent Disconnections:
    • Check for interference from other electronic devices (e.g., microwaves, cordless phones).
    • Ensure the extender's firmware is up to date.
    • Perform a factory reset on the extender and reconfigure it.

Factory Reset:

If issues persist, use the provided reset pin to press and hold the reset button on the extender for about 5-10 seconds until all lights blink. This will restore the device to its factory default settings, and you will need to repeat the setup process.
