4. Installation Instructions

Follow these steps to replace the vacuum belt in your Hoover Elite Rewind Plus Upright Vacuum Cleaner. Always ensure the vacuum cleaner is unplugged from the power outlet before beginning any maintenance.

  1. Step 1: Prepare the Vacuum

Unplug the vacuum cleaner. Lay the vacuum flat on its front side to access the brush roll area. Remove any screws or clips securing the bottom plate or brush roll cover. Carefully remove the vacuum cleaner cover.

  2. Step 2: Remove the Old Belt

Locate the brush roll and the motor pulley. The old belt will be stretched or broken. Carefully remove the brush roll from its housing. Grasp the old drive belt and remove it from the motor pulley and the brush roll.

Image: A three-panel image detailing the installation process: 1) Removing the old drive belt from the motor pulley after removing the rotating brush, 2) Placing the new drive belt over the motor pulley and looping it over the rotating floor brush, and 3) Pulling the belt over the brush roll and positioning the floor brush.

  3. Step 3: Install the New Belt

Place the new drive belt over the motor pulley. Loop the other end of the belt over the rotating floor brush in the space between the bristles. Ensure the belt is not twisted.

  4. Step 4: Reassemble the Vacuum

With the drive belt connected to the motor pulley and brush roll, pull the belt over the brush roll and position the floor brush back into its housing. Ensure the brush roll spins freely. Reattach the vacuum cleaner cover and secure it with any screws or clips removed earlier. Plug in the vacuum and test its operation.

5. Maintenance

For optimal performance of your vacuum cleaner, it is recommended to replace the drive belt every 3 to 9 months. The frequency of replacement may vary depending on usage intensity and the type of surfaces cleaned. A worn or stretched belt can lead to reduced brush roll effectiveness and decreased suction.

6. Troubleshooting

  • Brush Roll Not Spinning: Ensure the new belt is correctly installed on both the motor pulley and the brush roll. Check for any obstructions (hair, debris) around the brush roll.
  • Reduced Suction: While belt replacement primarily affects the brush roll, a severely worn belt can sometimes indirectly impact overall performance. Check for clogs in hoses or filters if suction remains low after belt replacement.
  • Belt Breaks Quickly: Verify that the replacement belt is compatible with your specific vacuum model. Excessive friction or a jammed brush roll can cause premature belt failure. Ensure the brush roll spins freely.
