5. Setup
5.1 Charging and Installing the Battery
- Insert the battery into the supplied battery charger.
- Connect the charger to a power outlet. The charging indicator will illuminate.
- Once charging is complete, remove the battery.
- Open the battery compartment cover on the bottom of the camera.
- Insert the charged battery into the compartment, ensuring correct orientation, until it locks into place. Close the cover.
5.2 Inserting a Memory Card
The LUMIX S5IIX supports dual SD card slots.
- Open the memory card slot cover on the side of the camera (refer to Figure 4.5).
- Insert an SD card (UHS-II recommended for video recording) into the slot until it clicks. Ensure the card is facing the correct direction.
- Close the memory card slot cover.
5.3 Attaching a Lens
The LUMIX S5IIX uses the L-Mount system.

- Remove the body cap from the camera and the rear lens cap from the lens.
- Align the mounting marks on the lens and the camera body.
- Attach the lens by rotating it clockwise until it clicks into place.
5.4 Initial Settings
Upon first power-on, the camera will prompt you to set the date, time, and language. Follow the on-screen instructions.

6.1 Basic Photography
Turn the camera on using the power switch. Select your desired shooting mode (e.g., Program AE, Aperture Priority, Shutter Priority, Manual) using the mode dial.
