1. Introduction

This manual provides essential information for the safe and effective use of your Panasonic LUMIX S5IIX Mirrorless Camera. 5. Setup

5.1 Charging and Installing the Battery

  1. Insert the battery into the supplied battery charger.
  2. Connect the charger to a power outlet. The charging indicator will illuminate.
  3. Once charging is complete, remove the battery.
  4. Open the battery compartment cover on the bottom of the camera.
  5. Insert the charged battery into the compartment, ensuring correct orientation, until it locks into place. Close the cover.

5.2 Inserting a Memory Card

The LUMIX S5IIX supports dual SD card slots.

  1. Open the memory card slot cover on the side of the camera (refer to Figure 4.5).
  2. Insert an SD card (UHS-II recommended for video recording) into the slot until it clicks. Ensure the card is facing the correct direction.
  3. Close the memory card slot cover.

5.3 Attaching a Lens

The LUMIX S5IIX uses the L-Mount system.

  1. Remove the body cap from the camera and the rear lens cap from the lens.
  2. Align the mounting marks on the lens and the camera body.
  3. Attach the lens by rotating it clockwise until it clicks into place.

5.4 Initial Settings

Upon first power-on, the camera will prompt you to set the date, time, and language. Follow the on-screen instructions.

6. Operating the Camera

6.1 Basic Photography

Turn the camera on using the power switch. Select your desired shooting mode (e.g., Program AE, Aperture Priority, Shutter Priority, Manual) using the mode dial. Adjust settings like ISO, aperture, and shutter speed as needed. Press the shutter button halfway to focus, then fully to capture an image.

6.2 Autofocus System (Phase Hybrid AF)

The LUMIX S5IIX features a fast and accurate Phase Hybrid AF system for reliable subject tracking.

6.3 Image Stabilization (Active I.S.)

  • Video recording stops unexpectedly: Ensure the memory card has sufficient write speed (UHS Speed Class 3 recommended) and check for sufficient battery charge.
