5. Operating Instructions (Usage)

The Rebo® Children's Challenge Wooden Climbing Frame offers multiple play activities. Always ensure children use the playset responsibly and under adult supervision.

  • Climbing Tower: Children can access the slide platform via the wooden ladder or the rock wall. Encourage safe climbing practices, using both hands and feet.
  • Slide: Children should slide down feet first, one at a time. Ensure the landing area is clear before sliding. The 8ft injection-moulded slide can be modified for water play by connecting a hose (check manufacturer's instructions for slide).
  • Swing: Use the swing one child at a time. Encourage gentle swinging and discourage standing on the swing seat or excessive twisting of ropes.
  • Up and Over Climbing Wall: Children can challenge themselves by climbing the wall using the rock holds and rope, or by traversing the cargo net. Ensure proper footing and hand placement.
  • Space Under Platform: The area beneath the tower platform can be utilized as a sandpit, ball pool, or for toy storage.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance is crucial to ensure the longevity and safety of your Rebo® Children's Challenge Wooden Climbing Frame. The timber is pressure-treated for durability, but ongoing care is recommended.

  • Monthly Inspection:
    • Check all bolts, nuts, and screws for tightness. Re-tighten as necessary.
    • Inspect all timber components for cracks, splinters, or signs of rot. Sand down splinters or replace damaged parts.
    • Examine ropes, chains, and swing hangers for wear, fraying, or corrosion. Replace if compromised.
    • Check the slide for cracks or damage.
    • Ensure the ground anchors are secure and the playset remains stable.
  • Annual Treatment: Although the timber is pressure-treated, applying a water-repellent sealant or wood stain annually can further protect the wood from weathering and extend its lifespan.
  • Cleaning: Clean the slide and other plastic components with mild soap and water. Avoid harsh chemicals.
  • Ground Surface: Regularly check and replenish the loose-fill surfacing material (e.g., wood chips, sand) to maintain adequate depth for fall protection.
  • Winter Care: In areas with harsh winters, consider covering the playset or removing detachable components like swings and storing them indoors to prevent damage from extreme cold and snow.
