3. Setup
Follow these steps to set up your RØDE Wireless ME system:
- Charge Units: Ensure both the Transmitter (TX) and Receiver (RX) units are fully charged using the provided USB-C cables. The battery level will be displayed on the unit's screen.
- Power On: Press and hold the power button on both the TX and RX units until their screens illuminate. The units should automatically pair.
- Connect Receiver (RX):
- For cameras: Use the SC2 (TRS to TRS) cable to connect the RX to your camera's microphone input.
- For smartphones (iOS): Use the SC21 (USB-C to Lightning) cable to connect the RX to your iPhone.
- For smartphones (Android) or computers (USB-C): Use the SC22 (USB-C to USB-C) cable to connect the RX to your device.
- For computers (3.5mm input): Use the SC7 (TRS to TRRS) cable to connect the RX to your computer's microphone input.
- Position Transmitter (TX): Clip the TX unit onto your subject's clothing, ensuring the built-in microphone is facing towards their mouth for optimal sound capture.
- Attach Windshields (Optional): If recording outdoors or in windy conditions, attach the furry windshields to the built-in microphones on both TX and RX units to reduce wind noise.

4. Operating Instructions
The RØDE Wireless ME system is designed for intuitive operation:
- Power On/Off: Press and hold the power button on each unit for a few seconds to turn them on or off.
- Monitoring: The RX unit's screen displays battery levels for both TX and RX, as well as audio levels, allowing you to monitor your recording in real-time.
- GainAssist Technology: The intelligent GainAssist feature automatically manages your audio input levels, preventing clipping and ensuring a balanced sound. This technology operates in the background to optimize your recording.
- Range: The system offers a stable wireless range of over 100 meters (line of sight). Ensure minimal obstructions for optimal performance.
- RØDE Connect Compatibility: For advanced control and features when recording or streaming from a computer, download and use the free RØDE Connect podcasting and streaming software.
5. Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your RØDE Wireless ME:
- Charging: The units feature built-in Li-Ion batteries providing up to 7 hours of battery life. Recharge using the provided USB-C cables. They can also be powered via the USB-C connector for continuous operation.
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the units. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
- Storage: Store the microphone system in the provided pouch in a cool, dry place when not in use.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your RØDE Wireless ME, consider the following:
- No Audio:
- Ensure both TX and RX units are powered on and paired (indicated by illuminated screens).
- Verify all cables are securely connected to the correct ports on both the RX unit and your recording device.
- Check the audio input settings on your recording device (camera, smartphone, computer) to ensure the RØDE Wireless ME is selected as the input source.
- Confirm battery levels on both units.
- Poor Audio Quality/Distortion:
- Ensure the TX unit's microphone is positioned correctly and not obstructed.
- If recording outdoors, use the furry windshields to minimize wind noise.
- While GainAssist is automatic, very loud environments might still cause issues. Try to reduce ambient noise if possible.
- Check for potential wireless interference. Move away from other wireless devices or strong electromagnetic fields.
- Connection Issues:
- Power cycle both TX and RX units.
- Ensure units are within the 100m line-of-sight range.
